Akai MPC Element works with iPad

I see now The Unbox video on youtube and inside the box there is a Little manual with write: Mpc Element works with iMPC App on iPad.

  • Interesting! :-) I picked up iMPC for its samples when it was on sale. I copied out the samples and deleted the app. Hehehe!! However, I like hearing about this kind of stuff. The Akai MPC Element looks like a cool inexpensive piece of hardware. :-)

  • it doesn't make the iMPC any better unfortunately ;-) Better to use it with Beatmakers Drumsampler imo...

  • Meh. Unsold "MPC Fly" stock repackaged for a crippled PC software demo. Would have been more interesting if it had other controls besides buttons like ribbon faders, xy pad, or encoders. I could see it being interesting to use this as a dedicated controller for BM2 or something but I would still prefer a more portable Korg Nanopad2.

  • Can anyone confirm that it works with your iPad? If I don't have a USB in (using iPad port for my audio/midi interface), can I just use its Midi out? Is there a way to power this if not using USB?

Use a powered hub. Otherwise the midi out should do but you will need to plug the mpce into some power source then. I don't have one but I would expect you could plug the USB cable into a USB charger too. Another interesting pad controller is Steinberg/Yamaha’s CMC-PD. It is very small and portable and has better overall quality than the Nanopads. 16 Pads with adjustable sensitivity. Also works with iPhone on iOS 7 on a powered hub.

  • Anyone still using iMPC?
I purchased it long ago, but never really got going with it.
