GarageBand 2.3 Let’s Explore the Alchemy Synth...Video

Here is a demo of some of the new stuff for Alchemy in GB

  • Keep em coming Captain!

Happy that's there's more stuff in Alchemy, but still very hard done by that one of my favorite all time anywhere patches 'Actopia' doesn't appear to have made the cut back from the Original. I still have it, along with the other throwbacks on ipad that will never be updated, and for that I'm grateful, but it's still a pain in the arse etc etc.

  • Yeah, pretty cool, thanks for recording this.
I wonder if Apple tries to relocate the Camel Audio devs to the US?
And I really wonder what happened to the Emagic devs, the original creators of Logic from Germany.
Is Apple keeping these locations and spreading their music development team around the world?
I assume, step by step this is all moving slowly to the US , as people change jobs or something of that sort.

  • Worth noting regarding GarageBand is that the automation of all the touch-instruments can be recorded which is a real boon. Many different synthesis categories are covered in the instruments and offer some tweak options (some are FM based, some are just regular VA and some of the Alchemy instruments provide some unique parameters. ie. not the same for all patches).

I've actually grown to like GarageBand again despite it's shortcomings :)

Somehow like me. I stopped using it a lot since 5 months ago.
Then, when I replaced my iPad Air with an iPad that can run Alchemy, I almost haven't touched My Mac/LogigProX.
Easy workflow, not too much to choose from, that makes me create and play instead of figuring out things :-)

  • Ironically, when I had the old Alchemy stand alone, I played with it but didn’t ‘do’ much. I use the GB version much more, and am really enjoying this update.

  • I still kick myself for not buying the IAP on the original alchemy ..recently rediscovered this lovely synth while looking for 32bit apps worth keeping loaded on my old ipad after updating to 11 on my new Pro.
At least garageband provides a silver lining, but oh how I would love to have all those extras in the original I keep hearing about :P.

  • I figured out why the Alchemy synths disappeared when I updated to the latest GB on my iPad mini 3. Alchemy synths now require iPhone 6, iPad mini 4 at minimum. If you've got a mini 3, the update will get you the great beat sequencer and great Japanese touch instruments, but it'll lose you Alchemy. FYI. (Personally I'll be ok).

  • I've had the full Logic Alchemy ever since it was included, and of course tried the iOS version way back when it was first released, but I still can't get into this synth's sound.

I'm going to keep trying with the new GB update and see if I somehow find a place for it.

It seems best at developing atmospheric pads for me at the moment.

  • I wish they would release Alchemy´s mod FX as AU effect. This thing is insane and better than most standalone apps or plug-ins in this area.
