Alright I just picked up Thesys (great app by the way).
Using my latest version of TF7 (pending update in App Store, wait for it!) , I'm happy to report that TF7 shows up in Thesys, and I'm able to send arpeggiator notes to TF7 via Thesys
Here are some other apps which I have and have tried sending midi to TF7.
Obviously this list is not exhaustive (and I can't buy all the apps!), and if you find issues with sending midi to TF7 with any app after the next update, do let me know.. I'll see what I can do.
The issue is that for Coremidi there seems to be 2 ways for which a developer can choose to receive midi. The first is to scan for all available sources, which is what TF7 originally just did. The second is to publish your app out as a "node" for apps to send midi information to.
So in the latest version of TF7, both modes are being implemented in the code to ensure midi compatibility.
Yay! Well done, Lppier Looking forward to the update.
Excellent!!!! Thank you!!!!! :-)
Thanks a lot @Lppier.
TF7 is great. Waiting for update to use its wonderful sounds in my projects.
Cheers.
Wow!!! This will be incredible if everything works out.
I think the developer needs encouragement though... It wasn't well received at the time, which makes no sense at all to me, because this is exactly what we all need. I think everyone had pinned hopes (myself included) on the Audiobus team integrating something into the Audiobus app. Now that I know that this isn't going to happen, I think we need to start encouraging Audeonic to continue with this. He (the developer) deserved better treatment than he got--especially since he was trying to do the entire platform a favor......
+10 for Nic. MidiBridge does as much to enable useable MIDI between Apps as AudioBus does for Audio, they each need the other. Get MidiBus as widely used as AudioBus and most of the aggravations will resolve themselves. Especially Sync, with a common and simple API abstraction.
@audiojunkie did the AB team announce somewhere that there would be no midi in audiobus? Or just the next update?
May have posted this on the wrong thread earlier:
Nic has an update on MidiBus:
http://audeonic.boards.net/thread/54/midibus-happening
TF7 MIDI seems to be broken: MIDI settings page lists potential sources, but shows no indication of which if any are active, nor does it have a MIDI Channel selector. Seems stuck in promiscuous, Omni mode. i.e. essentially useless except as the only MIDI App running. Worse even than iMini, which at least finally sported working source selection.
With the upcoming update that the developer has already mentioned this should resolve the issues.
@syrupcore I had been pestering the team to find out if they will be doing anything with MIDI with Audiobus or not, and told @Sebastian I'd stop pestering him and let the issue drop if he'd tell me whether or not they will be adding anything Midi to Audiobus. He told me that they won't be adding anything Midi to Audiobus. I let the issue drop as I said I would.
good
Very nice update. Im starting to appreciate this little FM synth more over time. With the new aftertouch sensitivity you can get some pretty interesting circuit bending effects with two pads. Also the tones seem a lot richer somehow, a welcome departure from the subtractive sound landscape.
Great update.
I had to play a little before going to work and enjoyed it very much.
I started to make my own sounds and looking forward to use it in my new project.
Thanks a lot.
Huge update! Thanks for listening and implementing almost everything everyone have asked for (!). And the IAP sound pack was an insta buy, great stuff, thanks.
If there's anything left I'd really really like to see, is being able to choose between major and minor (with the on-key/chromatic switch). And perhaps take it a step further and implement scales and custom scales. Scales combined with all the new expression gestures/modulations in this update would be amazing.
Also, @Lppier if the sound IAP pack sells decent, I'm definitely buying any more packs you might have in store down the road. Great sound designs!
@ChrisG Thank you so much for the support for TF7.
Some folks have told me that they want to know which are the presets they bought with the new IAP. So here's the list
http://tenaciousfrog.com/2013/11/04/weird-and-wonderful-tf7-add-on-presets-coming-soon/
I'll take a look at the scales thing to see if it's a can-do.
Thanks again.
Pier.
Agree with @ChrisG I also bought the IAP sound pack and love the flexibility of the new features...you really got something special here
One thing I would like to see is the ability to slide from one note to another - it would make the Theremin type presets sound more realistic.
Excellent update for an excellent FM synth! Thanks!
Gliss
Thanks for the big update @Lppier! This is my favorite FM synth on the iOS platform! Your support is fantastic and I am really glad you frequent these forums!!! Great job!!! :-)
Great synth! Does anybody know how to disable the slide feature? I'd like to be able to turn it off sometimes, so that I don't accidentally trigger it.
Hi @dextertragic the 1.11 update has been submitted to the App Store with the requested Off pitch bend mode, as well as with a way to keep the pitch bend mode persistent when changing presets. It will take roughly two weeks for apple to approve it. Thanks for checking it out!
@Lppier nice update, I saw on your Facebook page you doing testing with IAA , when can we expect this update , Also is it possible to midi mapp the synth controls, if this is not possible do you intend to add this
++ for midi map.
I've done crazy things with Thesys playing TF7. It would be nice to control parameters via midi cc.
Also, are you going to support panning?
Thanks a lot
Ooh IAA, +1 on that. I have no clue how hard all that stuff is to implement, but it would awesome to have TF7 available both as a synth and a multi-fx unit via IAA (when in Auria, Cubasis etc). And up the price tag on this thing, or make it IAP, I'll throw my money at this thing.
Looking forward to the update, I do find myself constantly changing the default whammy to vibrato on every preset (and back to whammy for more lively stuff). By the way, this runs just great on the Air on high settings (coming from iPad 2 here), so TF7 is definitely gonna be seeing a lot more use here. Thanks again!
Thanks all for the nice comments ... currently I'm also working on a music game so i will have to prioritize the requests. Nevertheless it all goes into my evernote so that i wont forget.
IAA will probably be done soon, though!
Hi there,
TF7 just got updated to 1.12, more of a maintenance fix.
Thanks @Lppier! You are a vigilant and talented developer! I appreciate the update! :-)
