Spent some time last night trying to get FM Player to work in AUM. I couldn't get the AUM keyboard to trigger it, and I wasn't able to get Bram Bos' Odessa to trigger it either. Suggestions?
I am still working my way through midiocy, so bear with me.
Yes, good ear! Hopefully, folks realize that's an advantage and not a bug. Something that made the original DX-series synths sound so good (to me anyway) was their low-bit Digital Audio Converters. There's a certain magic in those outputs. The DX7II unit in particular that I sampled has some of the sweetest outputs I've ever heard on an FM synth. All the magic and sound quality is from those converters.
Try selecting "MIDI Client" on the AUM MIDI output. That allows me to use it with the AUM keyboard in the current Beta.
That's the ticket! Thanks, Matt.
haha exactly!
Doogie Howser was the first thing I ever learned on keys
DX7 is all about the EPs for me...and this one nails it. I wish the Gods would grant AU...but nevertheless it rocketh.
Sweet! The EPs I sampled with 5 velocity layers. Most of the other stuff has 3 velocity layers. ABing to a real DX7 it seems to play really, really close. (If people think I need more velocity layers, I can do that for future versions). However, I worry it might be wasted storage space for those without MIDI controllers...
