iOS Midi Control of Logic Pro via Bluetooth?

I can most often get midi sent from my iPad to my desktop Logic Pro via bluetooth for sequencers and/or controller apps, but it's often extremely frustrating. Sometimes it's great, and then for some reason I'll lose the connection and can't seem to get it working again without a bunch of turning stuff on/off, reconnecting, etc.

Going via lightning cable, or even wifi is very straight forward and consistent, but doing it via bluetooth has often been a nightmare.

If I use AC Central for the bluetooth connection it's a little better, but still not solid.

What I'm curious about is if this a well known issue? ie. that it's very sketchy and unreliable trying to use bluetooth connectivity between iOS and OSX? Or, am I most likely just doing something wrong and/or have some setting wrong?

I have also trouble with bluetooth on both iPhone and MacbookPro if i connect my Seaboard with it.
Also iPhone and mac sometimes won´t connect too. Yeah, it sucks sometimes.

It's weird, because sometimes it all connects... all straight forward... and just works like you'd expect it to for several hours with no issues at all. Then, a few days later it's like a constant battle. You're like, "Damn! I've rechecked everything a dozen times and everything is the same as it was a few days ago.."

I wonder if I have something nearby that's intermittently causing interference? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it decides to work or not. "sucks somtimes" indeed!

  • Similar issues with Logic remote. Used to work great with Bluetooth, now it doesn't connect via Bluetooth any more at all.
I am using WLAN with adhoc network now, usually fine with this, but sometimes unstable, unfortunately.
