@Retronyms
Thanks for stopping by! For me Hook is all about the Flux Fader and DJ FX. If I have to choose one feature/improvement to take it to the next level for me, it would be the addition of an editable timeline to record my DJ performance onto, so I can edit my performance before exporting to .wav. This would be just like recording a Live Loops jam onto the timeline in GarageBand. Kind of a big request, I know. Second choice would be audio out (multi-channel) via IAA, AB or AU so I can use it with other apps.
Thanks for asking!
Me too!
I hope full iOS11 Files.app integration will be in place?
Drag'n'Drop from Files.app to for example GarageBand is very handy as is 'Browse in Files.app' for import.
I do understand the that the AudioCopy SDK is deeply rooted in some apps but that does not mean it's ok to ignore the support for standard iOS features when it comes to file/content exchange. (Embrace the 'Files.app & DocumentPicker').
I already like the sample-editing in AudioCopy but deeply miss the option to monitor the input while recording...
(example connect iRig Mic HD to the lightning port and use the head-phones to monitor the input while recording).
Looking forward to what's been cooking when it's fully cooked
Oh, i see a great idea here, too! Just write a correct description in the iTunes store and not (this is now): "This is the free iPhone version of Hook."
Next level would be the offering in iAPs, and the, removing all of them when the user updates the app. This is what other companies do. In a short: There is always a good working way to improve the user experience!
@Retronyms
The app should be catered to djs so...
Tap tempo and a fader to control the tempo (beatmatch) and also some precision controls. Sliding over the tempo number isn't my cup of tea.
Bigger controls! Those little strips on the edge of the screen are minuscule. There's a lot of unused space on the screen for grids but when we want to launch a scene it's like the smallest little tap area... maybe making this a universal app influenced the UI design but iPad users lost on some opportunities for better user experience as a result unfortunately.
Mixer and grid should be combined. Why? Slow fades/transitions. If I want to cut a frequency while doing a cross fade without a midi controller it is impossible.
Maybe that's helpful. I hope so.
Great Feedback. Thanks for posting. Agreed about control size, and availability of the fader. Things to consider for us

@Retronyms obviously importing samples is hugely important too. AudioCopy is slow. Importing one loop at a time isn't effective.
Open up your apps so that other apps can export directly into the app and allow it to take zip folders. Think of some way to make an app like MPC or Looper compatible in the same way that novation apps are for example.
Maybe ACP4 has addressed this already?
Have you tried "Paste All" from AudioCopy? I consider this the main way to get loops into Hook. You can paste a an entire folder (or hierarchy of folders) into Hook and it will lay the sounds out for you.
Have you considered using 'shared storage containers'(or a even iOS file-provider extensions) within all the Retronyms apps?(This way the files could be directly accessed from all Retronyms apps without the need to use 'AudioCopy').
This way the files used would not need to be duplicated when moving them between apps.
(See the AudioShare and AUM combo as an example both apps access the same files).
Obviously shared storage containers only work with apps from the same publisher which could case some issues when multiple publishers are involved. This is where Private iOS FileProvider extensions come to play.
Looking forward to AudioCopy 4 with what ever it may bring us
We've spent a good deal of time looking into that stuff. Short version from the engineering team was that it was a can of worms. It's something we're always looking at and thinking about. From the user-experience side of things (my focus): what audio apps do you think do a particularly good job here? Who's using the latest storage techniques the best?

I really tried hard to love Hook. I failed. Loved the performance and mixing elements but importing and editing fell short for me.
I’m interested to see what AC4 brings!
I know many here would agree that AudioShare is the 'defacto standard' Audio file-manager for iOS Musicians.
(FileManagement, Conversion, Archiving and Sharing features are second to none).
Files can be accessed using Files.app/Document Picker thanks to usage the an iOS FileProvider Extension.
Drag'n'Drop is supported via the Files.app Pop-Over. Exporting directly to AudioShare works well either thru 'Open In...' or using the 'Document Picker'.
All apps that have 'iCloud Drive' support can directly interface with the AudioShare 'Location'.
Under iOS11 it's quite easy to add 'Files.app' support to an app making the apps 'iTunes Shared' folder accessible using 'Files.app' (the folder would end up under 'On my iPad').
From there all apps that can use the standard iOS filing features could access the files.
Being able to manage the 'iTunes Shared' documents without the need to use a computer feels like a no-brainer.
That's where Files.app support comes to play...
I'm aware of paste all but since I used the app last I wasn't able to paste all from other apps. For example, If I had a bunch of loops I made in Gadget, I am not able to paste all of those. I understand I can paste all loop packs bought, which if fine, but what I'm suggesting is a zip import unpack feature in ACP that applies to user specific projects.
Novation Launchpad
Agreed, the almost transparent sharing of content between Novation apps is very well implemented!
Korg uses 'private shared storage' to share information between Gadget and their other apps.
(Patch Data, Samples etc.).
Thanks all!
@LucidMusicInc — as a quick test, I just did a Paste All from another apps bucket/folder (Looperverse), and it worked. In general, Paste All should work from any bucket/folder regardless of whether it's a Sound Pack or a bunch of sounds from another app.
Honestly, it's such a PITA that IOS users have to go through all this hassle to move files about. Just thinking about moving files with IOS and Itunes gives me high blood pressure. Shoutouts to you guys for at least providing workarounds like this.
@Dubbylabby Totally! Always happy to jump in and hear about what you guys are thinking. We don't make these apps for ourselves...we make them to help others be creative! So it's really helpful to hear about areas that are working well and areas that we can improve in.
@AlexB Makes sense. Great points.
@Hansson Thanks for the suggestions! Great ideas.
@Retronyms
Bug report: I don't seem to be able to get files out of Audiocopy in Itunes anymore. Running the latest Itunes (Windows 10)/IOS/Audiocopy. Files don't show up and I'm unable to copy/paste/move to the Itunes sharing folder. Best I can do is move files around in the device like Documents or (ahem) Audioshare to get my copied samples out.
I remember a few versions of IOS/Itunes ago getting everything out of Audiocopy was a cinch so I'm not trying to be a troll about it, but, y'know what I mean...
@LucidMusicInc Thanks for the info. We will look into this to try and figure out a solution! - Taylor
Is it possible to import apple loops into Hook?
