WARNING: Fraudulent Black Friday sale at musicstudioweb.com
Don't try to buy there.
It looks incredible.
And it really is.
I think I saw this on Facebook about 2 hours ago.
This was almost too good to be true:
There were many offers, for example good headphones for 39€, studio monitors for 58€, compact studios, and the best I found was
the Analog Four MKII (retails for 1249€) offered for 98€.
In the shop description below it found
some nice, almost convincing text:
About Us
Music was established in 1898 in Warrington, England, making it the oldest retailer of musical instruments in the UK. Through this time we've learnt a thing or two about what musicians want and are proud to say we are a company run by musicians, for musicians. is a multi-channel retailer who sell all things musical, to all type of musicians.
Our History
......
...and so on.
Yet no link to the normal shop website was
provided, so from
home menu, just the sale offers could be
accessed. This made me somewhat more suspicious.
A quick google search revealed the shop info matched exactly the one of
Dawsons Music Ltd., which I could prove to be a legit company with help of
Wikipedia and a link to a BBC article from 2014.
https://www.dawsons.co.uk/about-us
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dawsons_Music (this is good!)
So next, I called (rather my girl-friend did) this legit shop at the number provided there and bingo,
they have absolutely nothing to do with the
musicstudioweb.com operation.
Same shop info given.
Nothing to do. Just a copy of the info
from the legit shop.
And I was just in the process of registering
my info at the fake website.
So I get sometimes things are just this.
Too good to be true.

thanks bro
I ALWAYS look at online reviews before purchasing.... not just reviews from the shop advertising.... infsct, I'd rarely take notice of reviews on a shops own website. Best to stick with known shops. Dawson's is very much a well established music retailer in the U.K. Seems they are foul of this. You did the right thing. If it seems to good to be true... it probably is.
Great job, Detective!
Thank you for forewarning.
Screw it I’m trying it. Can’t pass up those prices
I do love this line:
Music was established in 1898 in Warrington, England,
nice find. A little googling for some of the phrases and it looks like they've basically bit Dawson's music.
https://www.dawsons.co.uk/about-us
Their About Us page is the same, just minus the word Dawson's everywhere. http://www.musicstudioweb.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=8
Looks like they have other 'stores' out there too. http://www.kawaibuy.com/index.php?main_page=shippinginfo
I sent an email to Dawson's.

yea, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe we can get a group buy going.
Is CCleaner safe ATM? I had heard it was hacked, and I haven't used it since. Used to use it every few weeks.
MusicStudioweb true location ..... NOT UK like Dawsons.

Karl Marx in the U.S.???? Hmmmmmm
I spent a lot of money on that site before I managed to think it through.
Is there anything I can do to get my money back?
Does anybody have any tips or tricks?
best,
Lasse
Call your bank or card provider immediately!
came to this forum as a result of research of another too good to be true shop http://www.hotvipshop.com - seems that the same person Markx Karel has opened it.
Hi, I 'm normally careful but was seduced by seeing exactly what I was looking for at a Black Friday price! I looked at the "About Us" part, and used the company number to see it was Dawson's (I grew up near Warrington so know Dawson's very well). Sadly I didn't call them to verify, and neither did I take any notice of the tell-tale poor quality of the site. So I purchased an item for €39.00 and chose GBP currency. It converted this to £35.10. So I also didn't spot the lack of a confirmation email. I paid by VISA Debit, which takes the payment straight from my current account. The next day a payment of £40.10 was taken (plus a Foreign Currency Transaction Charge of £1.10 by my bank).
When I didn't hear anything for a week, I phoned Dawson's and they told me it was nothing to do with them. I contacted my bank, they said the transaction had gone to China. They said as I'd done this voluntarily, I needed to wait 15 days to see if I got anything delivered. If I didn't receive anything, they can claim from VISA for non-delivery. If I receive something that is either not what I ordered or is clearly counterfeit, they can raise a similar claim. They said I hadn't had any other activity from them on my card, but advised me to cancel it and they would send me a new one.
Definitely a triumph of greed over common sense and experience!
