At $150 - (less in £ because it's not sold through the app store) the Mac version seems like a pretty good deal now doesn't it?
Assume you make music on your computer.
I have a copy on my Mac but to be honest barely use it. I keep telling myself that when I get any time to make the 'the album' i'll use it for finishing and finessing tracks.
Thanks for the screenshots, it's still 'Invalid ID' when I try to get them as IAPs...
Guess we'll have to use the filter in an IFX slot if filtering is needed
(Would have been handy to have it as one of the effects).
ask a simple question....... and get? .... a load of blah blah blah about money and Korg suddenly being the Inland Revenue.
but any road, thanks @Matt_Fletcher_2000 for the Vancouver screen shots, it looks like it will do the job and a bit more, though i agree with @Samu , filters used to be standard on hardware samplers, seems a slight shame a per note one isn't in there. I'll take it nevertheless.
Korg not doing too good a job on collecting any of my dosh... it's still sat there in the itunes account waiting for them or apple to izzy wizzy the iap glitch away
Yep - the Korg choice of what effects they make available in what Gadgets is a bit bewildering. Wouldn't it just be better to make all effects available inside all Gadgets?
Anyway - now to try and work out how to get the Thumbjam cello samples somehow working in this Gadget. Possible do you think (I know that it won't do multi-samples for different octaves - so I might have to just make low, medium and high octave patches and run 3 instances).
Seems like Gadget is also on sale for $19.99
Yup, filtering and LFO of the parameters would make this a lot more useful. Shame really.
Sustain in EG1 and EG2 is the part where you set the loop point. When you sustain a note the loop settings will be in effect, so you can loop samples in there, this is may main interest, depends on how good the crossfade algorithms etc are.
I'm guessing most people who bought the Mac version (including me) already have and love the iOS version - It would really suck for us if we had to buy each new Gadget twice. And for people who don't own the iOS version Gadget for Mac is still a hard sell so Korg have to make it more attractive. There could be worse ways of Korg handling the pricing is all I'm trying to say.
Yep - i'm fine with it to be honest.
I hope Korg keep getting the revenue from Gadget that justifies them continuing to develop it.
Thanks. From what i'm hearing there don't seem to be any crossfade algorithms at all! It sounds like it's litterally just a hard cut between the start and end of the loop point. I might be wrong though.
I'd like to add that with the Ableton Live export including plug in data, Gadget for Mac feels like an extension to the iOS version - from this point of view, buying gadgets twice to take full advantage of this awesome feature would disappoint a lot more users than whatever the number of disappointed users is now.
no micro fades would be a bit crazy ,, especially if there is no visual zooming into the waveform to find a zero point!!? seems they put the student intern on gadget designing duties this time!
still,, I will buy it ... if and when the ios version gets its act together
Here's some Lisbon grabs...
So far I actually rather like it. Seems very nice for making 'Disclosure' sounding silky chord stabs. Very lush. More synth controls than the older Gadget synths.
All the factory patches sound like Brussels though. So i'd say don't buy it unless you are a)love off-shelf EDM or b)are prepared to strip it right down and reconstruct it for your own purposes.
The other thing I like about it is the chord pads (new to Gadget i believe). There are about 10 sets of Major and 10 sets of Minor chords given to you in this mode. You seem to have to transpose up or down if you're playing in a key other than C. The nice thing is you could use Lisbon to quickly get some interesting chords going, and then switch the track to any other Gadget if the Lisbon sound isn't what you're after.
You totally can zoom in to the waveform - sorry, I forgot to mention that. You can zoom in a LONG way. Similar to Zurich and the other audio Gadget. So that should help you find a zero point.
Can you automate start/length/loop/reverse?
Earlier screenshots showed MIDI cc control
Apparently it integrates with maschine and komplete now
There is that but I mean automation recording within Gadget of those parameters.
oooh! ok, that sounds more professional.. i've spent many a midnight hour trying to find zeroed loop point using only an akai dial and my ears.. so full marks to korg for that detail. I presume that means that the sample length isn't hobbled like in Bilbao and Abu Dahbi? ( i checked, still ridiculously short even in this 3.5 update )
with the layers, polyphony and the modulation stuff it might make it nice to run long samples across many bars??
tanks, and also tanks for pointing out the chord pads on Lisbon. might make it worth thinking about.
OK, so patch 14, Feisty Lead - they seem to have got the tail looping with no clicks - so it's possible.
Yep - you can automate every function on the Gadget.
but anyway...
about the original question... on ios, all good? no glitchy, no itchy? not a hiccup? ( apart from this iap nonsense )
Well then... good work Agent2K.
Those parameters can be automated yes (as seen in the other screenshots) so they beat BM3 in that regard
Also those parameters were already possible to automate in the Bilbao Gadget.
Still no Files.app integration which I hope will come in 3.5.1 or so...
(Imagine pulling up samples from BM3 folder-structure directly into Gadget and exporting from Gadget straight into BM3).
Yep - just tried it. Very nice. You can mess with start, end and loop points while recording and it will record your moves as automation.
which, of course, makes it all the more frustrating the ios version is still playing the pr*ckT£aser!!
If I do get Vancouver I will probably just manipulate it hands on with some automation going while recording straight to a pad in BM3... which gets me thinking, why am I not doing this now with the Elastic Drums sampler? I have a ton of sketches just waiting in there heh. One of the resons I love this forum, gets me retracing my steps.
Mmm - bad news people. Seems to me like there's a 10 second limit on samples. (Or actually very slightly longer than Bilbao - maybe 11 secs.
Amazing. I still have older version. When i open app store i see it was updated 12h ago with version 3.5 and OPEN button. No update
Holy Skeuomorphism Batman!
I like my synths with drop shadowy 3D buttons as much as the next guy, but this is quite extreme
