iPhone X and 7+ comparison
I've been debating whether I actually want the X after finding out about its narrower aspect ratio compared to a Plus phone, but decided the only way I'd be able to make a valid, informed decision would be to spend some time with it. I figured I could share some screen real estate comparison shots with the group in case anyone else is in a similar quandary.
I'm making no attempt to compare brightness, TrueTone, or show the strengths of OLED. This is strictly a measuring contest. I'm a dabbler, and as a guitarist and "traditional" instrumentalist, I only have a handful of apps. Plus I'm in the middle of a huge app download while my phone restores so not everything is available just yet. Here are some starter shots though. I'll take requests but likely only have some of the top slash cheaper apps.
One thing of interest to the group, the stereo audio is much better on the X, and presumably the 8. The 7+ stereo is "panned" to the bottom, home button area speaker. With the X the stereo field is much more centered. This must be a much stronger, fuller sounding ear speaker as the speakerphone mode was startling.
Looks like the forum is just doing its own thing for image rotation, so apologies for the twisted pics.

VERY interesting, thanks a lot for that.
Do you have Geoshred and Jam Maestro?
I'm interested in seeing how the fretboard looks for both apps on the X
Unfortunately, I have Jam Maestro, which hasn't yet updated to support the X resolution, and not Geoshred, which has. I grabbed Gadget (which I may never use but, hey, I saved $20!) and took some comparisons of JM, Gadget, and Kauldron.
So far my take is that if an app is updated for the X, it's interesting. If you're a normal sized iPhone user the X is definitely compelling. However, if you're a comfortable Plus user the X definitely feels confined. I'm still giving it time, but as someone who has converted to the Plus size, I'm likely to return this for the 8+.
Thanks so much. Those Gadget and JM screenshots help a lot. I thought it would be nice to switch from the 7+ for the smaller form factor and same screen size, but it seems significantly smaller than I expected. In landscape, apps don't seem to use all the width of the screen, particularly that screenshot of Dublin and JM.
