Cubasis LE In App Upgrade
Has anyone upgraded to the full version of Cubasis through the in app upgrade using Cubasis LE? It’s weird that the upgrade price is $29.99 to supposedly get the full feature set of Cubasis instead of paying $49.99 for the entire app itself. Is there anything missing that warrants the lower price?
Comments
I’m not sure if there’s anything missing but you can’t get the upgrade unless you have a bit of hardware of a list of Yamaha kit so maybe it’s the full monty..
BUT what’s with this ...
Appears to be IAPs for a bunch of waves plug ins.
Looks like I’ll have to investigate further. I’ll probably just get Cubasis standard anyway. And wow waves on iOS? That’s awesome. Hopefully they get more plug ins as well
Waves plugins as IAP??
Does anyone have more information on this - I wasn't able to find any.
Looks like a juicy update is coming...
I wonder if the price of the plugins are that low because of Waves sale right now as well
As long as you've got the right hardware to take LE out of demo mode, the iap upgrade will give you same functionality as full cubasis. It will still be called LE though. It typically goes on sale at 50% whenever there's an upgrade, so might be worth waiting. If the waves stuff is 50% off i daresay I'll pick em up. You've got to hand it to Lars and the dev team, they keep nudging cubasis fwd
Cool find
These Waves plugins IAPs are also listed for the full Cubasis app, but if i look at the shop inside Cubasis app, they are not available (yet
)
I sense an update is hiding somewhere...
Bring on the update !
I did it this way.
Lol, AppStore is becoming like a joke, I'm flooded with 'old' updates dating back 2-3 years now
Can't see the waves updates in the Swedish AppStore...
Now we play the waiting game for a potential update

It's going to be expensive
So are you able to use the app fully without some kind of Strindberg supported hardware?
I guess the plugins were coming all along and we were just unaware. If they add busses to Cubasis it will be an instant purchase for me

If they are still there can you scroll and see how many plug-ins there is in total?
A real kicker would be if they could be used as AUv3's in other hosts as well
It’s three plugins and then there’s a bundle for all 3 at a lower price than buying all three alone. L1 Ultramaximizer, waves audiotrack and q10 EQ. I doubt they’ll let them be used in a different app. I believe steinberg has a partnership with waves

looks promising
I upgraded from LE, it's the same feature set as the full version. I had a bit of hardware from the list to make it cheaper too, and also upgraded when on sale so got it for very good value.
I think I need to go get some gift-cards so I'll be prepared when all this comes out...
I have an iRig Hd for my guitar.
Update: So it doesn't let you purchase the upgrade in the shop using Cubasis LE. Must mean you have to buy Cubasis as is if you want all the features. Cool. Hopefully it goes on sale so I can snag it soon. Then I'll have BM3, Auria Pro and Cubasis
You have to unlock the upgrade purchase option by having the right hardware. See Carnbot’s comment above.
I got the same hardware interface discount that @Carnbot did with my Tascam US-2x2 interface. Steinberg has a few other companies involved, it’s a gimme if you have a compatible interface or are in the market for one, it could tip the scales for sure.
There was just a discussion in a thread on Auria last week hypothetically throwing around the idea of desktop plugin devs making more of their wares available ala’ Auria. If this is true and Waves plugs are coming to Cubasis I am all in! While Auria is still my favorite DAW overall (that pretty much includes desktop DAWS as well) I have really been digging composing & experimenting on Cubasis.
Building up a Groovebox or Blocs Wave bit and then exporting it over to Cubasis for arranging & overdubs has been a blast. If its a keeper, the track is really happening, then usually bringing the tracks into Auria Pro for mixing is the M.O. If Cubasis were to get some plugins near the quality what’s available in AP from FabFilter that final export to Auria might be overkill and the track could be made A-Z in Cubasis, and that’s badass.
In 2018, the prospect of even stouter iPad Pro’s than the ones on sale now and a company like Waves coming into the community is going to be big time indeed!
Honestly I’m excited for all of this
Cubasis update incoming (as we expected). Prepare yourselves
I hope there isn't a big update purchase cornholing, I know the devs need dough but if its a minor incremental update but with this rumoured plugin functionality just charge for the plugs. They will sell if they're good...
I'm onboard for buying the Waves plugins even if $10-$20 a piece, if that's a reality, because even though it's a hassle like with the Auria/FabFilter situation, you CAN use these seemingly host only (Cubasis environment only) plugins on other sources.
No, it's not with AU, IAA or AudioBus, but the old fashioned way with careful planning & exporting out selected track/recordings that you REALLY want to be used with the host only plug an then synching them back in after 'treatment'.
It's just a big hassle of importing guide tracks, doing the overdub/processing, rendering it out and then exporting it to the other DAW it will be finished on, with careful attention paid to the timing, etc.
Who knows what's on the horizon? Could be simple versions of standard Waves EQ's & dynamics OR it could be the Abbey Road J-37 plug-in, etc.
I can dream.
And Cubasis is now on sale for $24.99
If one of the new Waves IAP is Waves Tune, that would be a instabuy and a game changer I frankly wish Auria Pro had provided. Let’s see. I don’t have Cubasis on my iPad anymore, so please let me know if Waves Tune is included. Cheers!
Hi all,
Cubasis LE is the compact version of Cubasis, coming with a reduced feature set compared to the full Cubasis app.
The app (free download on the App Store) runs in demo mode, until being unlocked via a compatible hardware device.
Here is the list of compatible devices (soon to be updated with next release):
https://www.steinberg.net/en/products/mobile_apps/cubasis_le/compatible_hardware.html
Feature comparison between Cubasis LE and Cubasis:
https://www.steinberg.net/en/products/mobile_apps/cubasis_le/feature_comparison.html
Once unlocked via compatible hardware, Cubasis LE users are able to update the app with the features of the full Cubasis version via in-app purchase.
Hope that helps...
Best,
Lars
I just purchased it this way. Working a treat. Thank you very much. Is Cubasis gonna stay labeled LE?
