Me when I stumble upon a thread that is deep into a discussion of MIDI and routing

  • Unfortunately having more than one app & daw and wanting to control everything needs a good understanding of how control signals work.

Each app has its own way of handling midi really some bad some good.
CoreMidi works best for me - no need for an AUv3 or AB3 midi really imo but they do offer a more packaged solution - but its early days for both.

IOS is years behind hardware & desktop.

  • @ipadthai Ask away. We are here to help (well, me anyway). Our two half brains may add up to more than the sum of their parts, and we may surprise ourselves. ;)

  • A testament to the potential that midi has. I use midi mostly the same since the 80’s when controlling hardware synths and drum machines. When I got an EWI, that introduced me to cc’s which is still about it for my needs. There’s so much more, it’s mind boggling to me, but exciting at the same time.

  • While iOS midi can be head scratching at times, I will always prefer it to hunting down faulty midi cables in my old hardware studio ;)

...or having to reorder tracks in Logic because the timing is off because of all those damn simultaneous notes in the chords and the blazing fast 9.6 kbit/s transmission rate over those cables ;) (easily avoided though by buying a $1000 Unitor 8-port MIDI interface :D )
