The Great Robert Rich
I've been listening to his album "Filaments" over and over. It's ambient but with some balls. Good composing, incredible synth programming and audio engineering. He has a lot of other albums, in varying styles, but this is my favorite of what I've heard so far. I think it's the slide guitar that does it for me:
Comments
He's a master sythesist, having been involved in the scene since the rise of the West Coast synth manufacturers like Emu Systems and Sequential Circuits.
I've been following his work since his experimental group Urdu in the early 80's, and love his expressive soundscape compositions.
Eek! My heart skipped a beat seeing his name in a forum title. Phew.
the clip is a real good reminder that less is more...
restrict yourself to 8 tracks and 2 devices and you may land in a similiar domain
it's well done and mixed - but I'd never had expected an audience for stuff like this
Really like this, been listening on Apple Music today :-)
His stuff has got me through hard times as they say. This one is very dear to me.
@AudioGus Thanks for this Mister. Have some high stress brain work to do this morning and I have a feeling this will help me drift through it...
The one Gus posted is a bit more mellow. Flute instead of steel guitar. You can't go wrong with either one.
Oh man! I love it! Thanks @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr and @AudioGus .
I can't stop listening to these. Been on repeat all morning, probably play it all day.
Sometimes I play this at the same time as Echo Of Small Things...
@AudioGus The First Astralnaut. McKenna is so amazing. His bro, too.
