Not really interested in a big unlabeled array of knobs but this gets mega points for MIDI Learn, copy/paste modes, 30 snapshots per preset and striping (set all knobs between one and another to consecutive values).

The question is: is it better to have one big knob or many little ones. Apparently it doesn’t matter, just do what she says (as heard of BBC radio 2).

But seriously, I had Akai midimix with multiple knobs and sliders and I’ve honestly found having so many knobs too much. Possibly for a daw channel strip assignments but live I don’t know, I’d rather have a few but important to me parameters.

with so many knobs u can assign and maintain and label. 16 knobs for model 15, 10 for another, 6 for another..... my main gripe with iOS is app switching. if i could have 4 au instances with small screens in aum and control them all, plus controlling fx etc. that would be great . seems that this would do it.

I remember reading a thread of yours about midi learn on a controller. Did that previous solution end up being the BCR?

Yep. Same basic problem as this one though: huge bank of unlabeled knobs. I pretty much only use it for programming my alpha juno at this point. I added labels.

Actually, I think I may have discovered a way to use the X-station for the Juno (getting around a sysex formatting problem) but haven't tried it yet. If so, I might dedicate the BCR for Quantum use since it supports bi-directional feedback. Plus, the grid layout actually makes sense for Quantum.

Wish the X-station had snapshots per preset. Then you could save actual presets for synths that offer midi control but don't have internal patch storage (volca keys, meeblip...).

Yeah, Quantum and the BCR would make a good match.

I think the X-Station Templates have snapshots so you could probably save a bank of 40 of those dedicated for the Juno. I imagine you use the X-Station for multiple devices so you’d likely need to fire up the editor to swap out banks?

But yeah, snapshots for the 200 preset slots would be nice, and simpler!

What is the Sysex issue you’re trying to overcome?

@SpookyZoo Yeah, it will send snapshots but you got it: it takes a preset slot. I do have a little set of Volca Keys presets but I'd do way more if it didn't eat into the 40. With it was 40x40 the way the FaderFox is 30x30.
