iPhone music makers
Hi
As you all know, I’m a fighter for the iPhone users cause. I think we are doing ok for apps but some devs could benefit from seeing how our number is increasing.
If you make music on your iPhone, can you please make a comment and, if possible, state your favourite apps and perhaps share examples of finished tracks? Thanks.

-Listening to new presets
-Experimenting with new gadget's sounds with different versions
I have the smallest iPhone and biggest iPad (SE and 12.9 Pro) and tbh do more music making on my phone simply because of the convenience of having it always with me.. I can lay down some ideas, build up tracks, create new synth patches or just simply play wherever I am, not always possible with the iPad (which I mainly use professionally for art).
Obviously the bigger screen size and power of the iPad allows for certain advantages too and a lot of apps have a UI that only really works well on the bigger screen, but the opposite is true as well... although I do think some of the iPad only apps I own could still work on my tiny screen (thinking of Samplr and Borderlands granular.. and Werkbench 3 plz come to iPhone
).
Off the top of my head I will say that apps like Figure, Samplebot and ThumbJam are much easier to use on the iPhone in my experience. Also the “gyroscope” controller for Alchemy in Garageband is a lot of fun to use on the phone but I wouldn’t even consider flipping the iPad Pro around in the air to use that function.
Just my preference and they both have advantages but I do usually go for Universal apps to get the best of both worlds.
Just been thinking about this and I probably do more music on my iPhone than on the iPad. Last couple of days I've been working on a cover of this 80s classic ...
All done in gadget ... using Vancouver for the breaking bottle sample
Got to love the simplicity of sharing projects between iPhone and iPad in gadget.
I posted a version Donna summers I feel love on here the other day .. 10 tracks of gadget made entirely on iPhone.
Would love to see cubasis on iPhone.
Yes, thumb jam on iPad is terrible lol
I doubt cubasis will make it for iPhone
They would have done it by now, instead they release plugins
I use Auxy and Groovebox all the time to sketch out song ideas to work on later, very handy having those on my phone with me at all times.
I'd like to say you are wrong but I think j you're probably right

The guy from steinberg pops up in this forum occasionally and hasn't said catagoricaly no .. but he never says yes either
I understand he is releasing a version for 12.9 iPad pro called armjam...
I use Auxy, figure, groovebox, blocs wave, will be using Gadget now more with Vancouver, and ikaossilator. Little multitrack daw sometimes. And a couple synths like Animoog and sunrizer. I feel like I have a lot of music making capability
I'm not iPhone only, however I use a lot of apps on my iPhone 6+. Most used would be Audiobus, AUM, Audioshare, and then Gadget and GarageBand so I can transfer projects to iPad. I also like messing with fun apps like Tric-trac and Figure on the iPhone. The most astounding thing for me is that I have Odyssei, Model15, and iSymphonic on my phone yet there are so many other apps that are either not universal or not available...for no obvious reason (except economics, I guess).
Here here!
Thanks Brambos, AUM, AudioBus team, Zeeon @giku_beepstreet , @Navichord and all awesome Devs that never forget us iPhone producers!
So happy got my iPad back
Happy happy!
I used to mess with BM2 for recording guitar and synth ideas I’ve now moved on to GarageBand after the last update! I will only buy universal apps now (unless it’s something really special) as I always have phone with me. The ideas never normally progress much but it’s handy having the tools at hand when you need them.
Cubasis on the phone would be brilliant as I could then transfer ideas directly to PC. That would also prevent the conflict of wifey not letting go of the Ipad! Lol :-)
On iOS i use iPhone only too. Never really like(d) the iPad and sold the only one i had some time ago.
I made 200+ tracks on it. That is the only real mobile
I use it every day.
I use it for vocal 90% time.
I use it as a mic and recorder. Music on iPads and sing raw into the phone while earphones are on from iPads.
I sing in the car alot as well.
I sing into Audioshare.
I sketch song ideas on it at least hour per day.
I also export in progress loops from iPad over to iPhone as I attempt to find other sounds that work.
Elastic Drums
TwistedWave. (MOST IMPORTANT APP I OWN)
KMachine
Animoog
Thumb Jam
iMaschine
I could be ok with those 6 forever.
I do use Patterning on iPad instead of Elastic Drums because the AB remote is more helpful for my use.
I only use TJ on iPad. It is anything but terrible. Maybe for one handed noodling iPhone is better, but I like using both hands and prefer not to hold the device in one hand anyway. TJ on iPhone might be your preference, but to say TJ is terrible in any way is misleading. TJ works GREAT on an iPad. (Not looking to battle you on this point, just sticking up for one of my favorite apps and a great developer)
Long-time iPhone user here!
I've got an iPhone 7 Plus, and it's great!! My favorite apps are:
Gadget
Xequence
AUM
AudioShare
Audiobus 3
Loopy HD
BeatHawk
Model 15
Zeeon
iSymphonic
Poison-202
mood
bs-16i
Ruismaker
ToneStack
If I had an AU sampler, and a full-blown DAW that supports MIDI and Audio, I would not need any additional instruments.......ah, who am I kidding?!? I buy everything that comes along!!! Hahaha!!!
Loool
You use TwistedWave?
only app I know to apply AU effects on demand to audio file''
MVP app for me
Shoutouts to RhythmStudio, Caustic, Gadget, IMaschine, and Launchpd
I have TwistedWave, but I've found that I can do most everything with AudioShare.
Gadget all the way now it has a melodic sampler....used to be torn between NanoStudio and Gadget on iPhone 5/6 but now I have 8+ my choice has been made for me.
Now Gadget has the sampler and all the plugins on mac I will get a lot more synergy between platforms.
Here’s something I did on iPhone 5 Nanostudio...
...and iPhone 6 Gadget...
Love iPhone music making for disappearing into the sofa and out of this reality for a while...
I use my iPhone 7 Plus only, and almost didn’t touch my 8 years old laptop/Ableton setup in one year. iPhone can be used for creating music everywhere and all the time. I use it for practicing and recording my tenor saxophone with an irig Pro io, in studio and outside. I use mainly Korg Gadget, AUM, AB3, AudioShare, Blocs wave, Lauchpad, GarageBand, BeatHawk, GarageBand, Figure, ReSlice, iFretless bass, ThumbJam, audio damage blamsoft ddmf fac chorus AU, VoiceRack Fx, midiflow for AB. I use too BlueBoard with Loopy/AUM/AB and Nanokey studio.
All those tracks are entirely made on iPhone with my sax. First in gadget, second and third mainly with blocs wave and BlueBoard live triggering/looping with loopyAUM/AB:
Nice
Why cant i use korg gadget and module on my audiobus 3 iphone 6, (im on trial version) will ot work on paid version?
Yes it will work on the paid version. I can’t say about the trial versions.
Made entirely on an iphone 6s plus over the course of a year and mastered it too. Used tonestack, loopy, multitrack DAW, audiobus, magellan and nanostudio, dm1 and few others I can't remember.
I always wish there were more universal/iphone apps. Specifically cubasis and plug-ins like pro-q2. It is getting better and there is a lot of us. Ipads are great but Im not gonna carry one everywhere unlike my iPhone plus (which is plenty big enough for apps and always on me). I dont want an ipad. Id just bring my laptop
Can't wait for ns2
I use Auxy and Groovebox all the time to sketch out song ideas to work on later, very handy having those on my phone with me at all times.
