I know I'm all over this thread, but I honestly believe that no matter what style of music you make or how many synths you already have, I'm POSITIVE there's something new in Mood for you.

I'm torn between zeeon and mood - same sale price. Honestly a bit put off by the look of the interface of mood. Much prefer zeeon. Leaning towards that - but something still intrigues me about mood. How's the sequencer in mood? It has a keyboard scale lock right? One thing I believe zeeon lacks which is one big thing for me - esp when using on iPhone - saves screen real estate. Mood better on CPU than zeeon? Guess I need to watch some more YouTube vids to help decide... anyone want to help convince me I'm all ears

I bought Zeeon yesterday, don’t have Mood but considering it if the other ones I want don’t have a sale.

First impressions are good - the built in sequencer is great for knocking up quick patterns, and the synth has a nice, rich sound. After a bit of a play I made some interesting pads, and it’s great for bass and leads.

Best thing for me: it’s not too hard on my Air 2 CPU, connecting to the Brambos Bassline was seamless, and so running several instances as AU’s in an AUN jam was hassle-free.

I see it as a good, all round, bread and butter synth, and will probably become my ‘go to’ AU synth.

The thing I really love about Zeeon is that it has its own sound, rather than trying to emulate another synth. Not sure about Mood yet as I haven't got it (but will do for sure in the sale). Mood is a minimoog with extras, whereas Zeeon is its own thing.

Just been watching the Tim Webb Mood vid - the thing that makes that one stand out for me is its use of samples. I've been chewing over getting Vancouver for Gadget so I can trigger samples via Rozeta (I can never remeber the new name of that, have to keep going back to check), but maybe Mood would do the job instead, and with extra options for sculpting and mangling. Plus it's cheaper.

I hate to say it, but I think I might need Mood and Zeeon.

Yes ditto, that's what I was saying earlier in the thread, the sampling aspect of it is super-interesting. Anyway I just bought it (Mood) and it sounds lovely, as fat as Model 15 but with the modern sound of Zeeon. Filter sounds great to my ears, just as good as the other two.

  • I think the filter of mood is its biggest flaw. It can make things sound smudgy and lose definition very easily.

Can you mix in the sample with the synths, or is it one or the other? Does seem a very powerful thing, a bit like Synthscaper (which I also don’t have...and patiently waiting for a sale).

Yes, there’s a mix knob for the three oscillators, the fm section, and the sample section. Sample section doesn’t support polyphony so that’s a bummer. I’ve never been able to do anything very good with the sample part, but it’s intriguing nonetheless.

  • The addition of the FM section is much more important to me. It can make some patches really shine.

I have Synthscaper as well, but I find the UI really confusing. I need to spend some time with the manual, it's definitely not an app where you can launch in and hope to be able to create your own patches without reading the manual first.

Ah yeah that's a shame, polyphony would be good, but being able to mix it in with the other oscillators will still be fun.

Hmmm...yeah that's a bit offputting. I don't mind getting lost in the innards and experimenting, but it's not always a pleasant or rewarding experience...really depends on the synth. I'll have to see if it goes on sale, I'm going to watch a few more Mood vids though, as that's a lot of synth for the money.

Yes! So glad you're digging it. Mood is highly underrated around here. I truly feel it's on par with Zeeon for sound quality alone, never mind feature set.

I'd love to know what you think of my preset bank - Daveypoo. It's the first time I've submitted presets to a developer and I was kinda nervous.

I like the sounds a lot actually. Gives off gritty dark 80s vibes which is awesome. I really like Sawz All and Joo Know

Nice - gritty, dark and 80s are all things I like, so thanks!

  • Thinking of grabbing iDensity, but holding out in case Fieldscaper goes on sale.

Anyone have any experience or suggestions for either?

They both look super cool, I love me some weird sound makers. :)

Soundscaper is more fun than Fieldscaper (and the GUI is easier to make heads or tails of)

I was mucking about with FieldScaper earlier funnily enough.

IMHO FieldScaper has the edge over iDensity with sound quality and available fx, but iDensity has more channels and I find the UI faster and easier to use.

I’d buy both again, good apps.
