Interesting ...
Holy cow. Removed Swedish localization?? Game changer.
Also the audio loops thing might be worth looking into.
EDIT: On first look it seems you can only add the Medley-provided or -purchased audio clips.
But they are promising access to user-provided clips in early 2018. Honest!
Who knows. Would be pretty to think so BUT I'm much more made gnarly by the removal of undo/redo. A retrograde upgrade step etc.
I was perversely amused by their "we are looking for a replacement"
Oh...I don't know...what could possibly replace...undo/redo...?
I know. I heard them at their planning meeting: "Under the couch? Down the shop? Wales?"
Beads.
Bees?
BEADS.
Beads?
They don't allow you to have bees in here.
@JohnnyGoodyear - our wording could have definitely been better. But when we said replacement to undo redo, it was more a replacement of our current, notes only, undo redo system, to a more universal system that works across most actions. So why remove the current implementation of undo redo? Though Medly 4 may look similar to our previous version, under the hood, a lot has changed. So it would have required us to reimplement undo & redo. But there were problems with the reimplementation. The current set of gestures were too easy to trigger or not trigger, and it was only limited to notes. With us adding audio clip support, we then needed to look at an undo redo system that would work across sections, be easily triggered, and be implemented throughout the board, notes, audio, and automation views. We simply didn't have the man power to do this and decided to focus on refining other certain features and tools. That doesn't mean undo redo isn't important, but we need a bit more time planning and design a new, more universal, undo redo system.
@JeffChasteen - importing audio samples, via drag and drop or AudioBus, is extremely important to us. We didn't want, nor could we, have this version of Medly be a full audio clip editing studio - other apps do it way better. And for the longest time, it was on our whiteboard until we ran out of time, and we decided to push it off to the next version. So why wait until early 2018? Because we wanted to make Medly more stable over the next few weeks, as well as learn from users what's important to them and refocusing our efforts there. Besides, we're less than 6 weeks away from 2018.
@baldajan Good to hear from you and congrats on the new version. I spent an hour with it this evening and enjoyed my time. Medly is a great place to quickly develop melodies and then export the midi (or the audio). I'm pleased to see audio samples and have been through a number of them, some interesting stuff. Will certainly be another major step forward when we can also import our own. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for replying. I'm looking forward to the addition. It really is my favorite workstation app. I have completed several songs in it (something that can't be said for any other workstation)
