Garageband multi audio unit crashes while export

edited November 2017 in General App Discussion

Hello,

Today, I used GarageBand to tweak a drum midi pattern with new step sequencer and 4 audio damage audio unit which were quadromod, grind, replicant 2 and Eos 2. Everything works perfectly, including song reload (I had long months issues with no sound on tracks with audio units after song/app reload). But the app work seems cpu intensive, and while export audio file, audio units crashes and there is a message about reload or not audio units. If reload them, the aiff file result has lot of audio crackles and no effects treatment. Only way to avoid that is to use their pseudo freeze track fusion feature, and then export. Sometimes, track fusion even don’t finish and need app restart. All of this kills workflow imo. The same audio units setup on a audio loop in AUM runs without issue while recording wet result, too bad GarageBand has not real freeze function or internal resample capabilities. 4 audio units at the same time is not that much if you look at desktop world, definitely traditional daw workflow is not that evident on iOS. Working on musical material with different apps with Ableton Link, AUM/AB, and import all stems in something else for arrangement or live playing still seems the way to go on iOS for me. GarageBand without Link, AB out and unstable audio unit support is not really viable IMO. Everything of this is on iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11, GB export with less audio unit and less cpu load is ok. Anybody has this issue too? Can’t wait for bm3 on iPhone, hope it will be stable on release.
