Swam Saxophone and others
So there is another pack for NOISE: Swam Saxophones. And again it is not available in NoiseAu,so you cannot record the instruments in your iOS-Daw.I own a SeaboardRise and the sounds and articulations are great. But I only can play them „live“
or record them into an „outboard“ Daw (in my case Logic) and then transfer them back on my iPad into Auria.Feels a bit like
Neandertaler-Times!

Do they add much to the existing SWAM Sax?
Yes,for me they do.There is a baritone, tenor, alto and soprano now.And what makes a big difference (to me),
there is a soft and a hard blown version of each of them! But I don ˋt need them for playing live,I want to record them directly through Audiobus!!!
Ja, ich hoffe auch, dass Audiobus bald zur Verfügung steht. Und natürlich AU
even audiobus will not record it? No interapp audio?
SHAME!
It will, but not the SWAM sounds. They are currently only available in stand alone mode of Noise.
No bus no fuss...but no money from me
This topic has been discussed in several other threads before.
It has been stated that this will be changed in a future update.
Yes I know. For me, the SWAM instruments are probably the most realistic so far on ios and I have recently bought a Seaboard and I am very happy with it. However I will stop buying these instruments packs except if they are AU compatible. Sorry guys but there is something strange with this SWAM “incompatibility”
If they can't make it AU for some technical reason they should at least make it IAA.

Therefore it is not much use to many IOS musicians. As sales strategies go, it’s unusual.
Yep, don’t get it.
Well, if they are gonna offer AU at a later point, everything will be ok.
If not, then I don't understand it either
Just speculating, but perhaps the reason that the SWAM instruments aren't AU yet has something to do with the fact that the persons who created all the SWAM instruments for desktop computers just recently broke away from Samplemodeling and formed their own company called Audio Modeling. Samplemodeling claims that this action on the part of the SWAM developers is illegal; the latter say that they have always had exclusive rights to their VSTs and had only been using Samplemodeling as a distributor. One benefit of the new company is that for the first time ever, as far as I'm aware, the desktop SWAM instruments were offered on sale (a Black Friday Offer).
I was experimenting with Samplemodeling instruments using small, mobile devices since some time. With success, although real-time performance was a bit limited. Atom dual core CPU, year 2014 I guess.
It was a great surprise to see the SWAM violin appearing in the Roli Noise app. Unfortunately, the app doesn't have Core MIDI input, to attach a wind controller like my Akai EWI4000s. The only way to play the SWAM violin is the touchscreen. And as mentioned above, only in standalone mode, not as AU or IAA, therefore not suitable for recording directly inside iOS.
So this Samplemodeling violin is reduced to touchscreen performance only. Which is not bad by itself, there is a video online from a talented musician showing its potential, playing an Indian tune, although there was a keyboard visible next to the iPad, even a Roli keyboard. Very well done by the way, masterfully played on a glass surface.
But it was hard to believe that Peter Siedlaczek and Giorgio Tommasini, the inventors of Samplemodeling technology, would release such a reduced, even crippled version on smart devices. That just wouldn't make sense, because these gentlemen are rather researchers and scientists, finding a way to perform acoustic instruments in the digital realm. Of course they are (or were?) patent holders, and do have a right to gain an income for their pioneer work. Personally I have a relationship with both of them, also as a beta tester for years, and I can tell that they are dedicated to music and musical expression through technology. But I am not affiliated to the company, I'm just a user.
During the years I may have spent some amount for licenses, but if you realise the difference between normal Kontakt libraries (or other VSTi's) and Samplemodeling, you know that this is not only the real deal, but the only deal you can make as a musician or producer. I do not regret a single penny, and as an early beta tester I was rewarded with multiple licenses for free. And even more. When I tried to purchase licenses, Samplemodeling sent me multiple mails with license codes, telling me that it was unappropriate for me to pay anything.
This is what I like, and do myself. If there is someone who deserves support and guidance, I give it for free in general. There are of course exceptions because it makes no sense to ruin yourself. But theoretically this is how we should interact and share our work. Because it serves the whole community, humanity, the purpose. And I always found Samplemodeling as companions on this (difficult) track.
Samplemodeling is unique in its expression because there is the option to change timbre (sample layer) during note-on. All other virtual instruments or libraries have to rely on velocity. MIDI velocity is determined after note-on, no way to change the value. That is the thing which makes Samplemodeling unique.

forgot to mention pressure/aftertouch, and MPE.
Thanks Phil. Good viewpoints on samplemodeling. I was recently wondering how much more expression data is flowing from the Roli than the EWI, or is it about the same. I would guess about the same considering the EWI's pitchbend plates for the right thumb and the bite sensors.
Am I missing something? I have a roli seaboard block arriving soon, so was just playing and AUM see’s noise as an AU, and can be played via a midi? I hope this is the case...
I had the same positiv experience with ROLI.I own a SeaboardRise25 and misunderstood something about
„owning“ some RoliPacks and out of generosity they sent me the codes for a couple of packs!
I just MISS the SamplemodelingInstruments in Noise-AU!!!
I just don't get the strategy.
I do but I am trying not to be a negative fucker for once
the EWI 4000s has an additional metal plate, next to the octave wheels, therefore for the left thumb, for a programmable MIDI CC. Usually for vibrato depth, but any parameter can be assigned, like frullato (some kind of FM). Samplemodeling instruments have lots of interesting/important control options, so you're rather limited to the controller you have. I've been using a foot controller for additional control, but neglected it after a while. Breath and two touch plates is already good for live playing. Experienced EWI or other wind controller players may extend the sound palette with foot controllers, or gesture controllers. And there's always the possibility to attach a smartphone to the EWI with tape for even more control, using the smartphone gyro sensors.
I think Roli produces good input devices. Simple controllers for bedroom producers, and quite good controllers for keyboard players. In fact I welcome the fact that Samplemodeling instruments are finally available in iOS, as the iOS devices are capable to carry the load nowadays. The only problem is that this technology is released in iOS without permission.
That is why I do not purchase any SWAM library anymore, be it on iOS (Roli) or on SWAM (Audiomodeling nowadays). As a long-time customer, I expect personal information from SWAM, but this didn't happen. At the moment I do not know where to address my support and update information for my purchased SWAM licenses.
The only place I can trust is samplemodeling.com.
Edit: Samplemodeling says they provide support for all their instruments, including SWAM, from what I gathered.
me neither, I must admit. I have an idea, but if it's true, it's very primitive.
Would be cool, if all the new sounds they are releasing for Noise would also become available for their desktop counterpart Equator.
I happen to like the idea of starting in iOS and finishing on the desktop.
Many of the sounds are actually in Noise plus Equator, which is cool. So now, could you give us the rest of them please?
Another sound pack for Noise was released. Wu-Tang Studio Pack.
Quite a lot of new packs coming out.
Just wish they'd also be out for Equator.
Opinions: how does swam sax compare to iFretless Sax, because I have to say, I bought the latter and I think it sounds a bit bad. I find all the instruments sound kind of 'airy'. Bit of a bad word I know. It might be reverb but they just sound a bit empty to me.
I do not think I can perform with such expressivity with iFretless Sax... SWAM sax is excellent for MPE controllers (like Geoshred, Roli Seaboard etc)...

Listen to this and judge yourself...
