Cubasis Waves vs Auria Fabfilter?

Would like to know impressions as well...
Waves makes fabulous plug-ins and those are classic ones. But FabFilter is the gold standard for mixing and mastering plug-ins across all platforms: there's no limiter or equalizer that compares to Pro L or Pro Q, even Izotope Ozone's. About Fab Filter Pro C2, it's very advanced and I see a comparable performance only in Logic's compressor, it does side chain et all, but I confess I mostly use Auria built-in channel and buss compressors because they are transparent and very lightweight.
P.S.: I have those Waves plug-ins (and many others) on my Mac. Would be nice if Waves ported Waves Tune; now this would be a game changer.

Agreed. Not forgetting Pro-MB.
The Wave apps currently available for Cubasis certainly seem to be seriously good, and as demonstrated by Doug, have their own special qualities.
Fab Filters, look to have many more presets, though. Both for use with individual tracks/ instruments, and on a whole mix. We find their mastering presets to be invaluable, and what can be achieved just sounds so good. Obviously, dependent upon starting with something halfway decent. Neither Wave or Fab Filters have the power to make a silk purse out of a sowe’s ear, so to speak.
Ironically, before learning of the current deal with Wave, I was hoping that Cubasis would do something with what Mr Lars described as ‘our good friends at IK Multimedia.’ If their T-Racks series had been ported to IOS - at prices comparable to Fab Filters - I would personally have preferred that, and likely made an instant buy.
Well on IOS, Cubais does not even have spectrum analyzer..
NO. Not that im aware of
I like both, but Auria Pro and fab filter is a much bigger money investment imo though, if you buy the pro Q equalizer, then get their compressor and gate, you’re going to spend $90.00 , where as with the waves Cubasis, you can get the Waves Audiotrack, which is an Eq, gate, and compressor, for $8 bucks, or you can get the bundle for $20, and I got some pretty sweet stuff out of the Waves stuff yesterday. Now if I was to compare the 2 Daws, I’d say Auria Pro, has more features and a better mixer, but I like the creating workflow in a Cubasis better, it’s more fluid, you can have auto and manual punch, where with Auria you always have to stop the track to start recording, if you want to punch in you have to set in and out point all the time and it just kinda slows me down, if Auria let us do manual/punching on the fly, it would easily be my go to. Auto punching is great but I don’t need it all the time and it just kills spontaneity sometimes. My workflow was basically create the track in Cubasi, or BM3 , or whatever other Daw and then mix in Auria Pro, but I kinda see myself doing more stuff entirely in Cubasis since they added the Waves stuff.
Our friend 5pinlink over on the Intua forum rates the Toneboosters plugins. They are IAPs in Audio Evolution Mobile DAW. Worth checking.
He already has both Auria and Cubasis if I got it right, @Strizbiz: he wanted a comparison beyond the plug-ins only. Those Waves plug-ins are good but very barebones and with very old algorythms, while the FabFilters are the best plug-ins available currently, and I'm talking all platforms now. Yes, the FabFilters are not cheap by iOS standards, and the OP just lost a huge sale, but even at full price they're a steal, since they cost a fraction of the Desktop versions and are exactly the same.
I know this thread is about Waves vs FF, but have you looked into the DDMF plugins. They are AU Units. I managed to get good results with them too. Good EQ, NY Comp, No Limits Limiter.
Just saying.........
Really like the 6144 EQ and Envelope (reverb). The 6144 is something that you have to play around with by ear - not a "surgical" EQ, but good for warmth and sticking things together. The reverb is very smooth to my ears. I think I'll eventually get the rest - DDMF makes good stuff and it's AU!
lol, ok... youre opening a huge can of worms now, what plugin are the best available, across all platforms, is highly debatable, especially if youre talking about desktops too, lol .....as much as I like FF I cant give them the title of best available across all platforms, lol.
Me neither, DMG Audio or TDR Labs take that vote.
I think that unless someone takes the time to do a detailed comparison of features and sound quality between the two then it's just a guessing game.
The Waves bundle in Cubasis looks like a bargain to me, for anyone who does their final mixes in Cubasis it's a no-brainer.
I’ll open this can fearlessly, lol... at least for mixing and mastering, most reviewers put FabFilter above Izotope Ozone and Ik Multimedia T-Racks (if you google for it, you should easily find those reviews and comparisons in Sound On Sound, Gearslutz etc). And yes, even taking Desktop into the comparison.
I mix in Auria every time I can, not only because of FabFilter but because of the touch sensitive, fully automatable 10mm faders with undoable fader movements that only Auria offers, again taking all platforms into consideration.
Wow!!!
I truly love Cubasis. I missed out on the waves sale cause I also use AP. However, I will save tobget waves cause Cubasis rulesbforbwase of use and midi. But AP rules in the mixing department. So I had to inv st what I had on the Fabfilter 50% off special.
But having both had really been a pure blessing!
Yeah, I like FF, I have some Auria FF plugins and some desktop, but as far as reviews go I go by my own experience with them, lol. FF are great, they just arent my go to, especially for Mac.
Which ones do you use, out of curiosity? Voxengo?

Oh great, this is what they did with Pro-R. Hold it back until after a sale. Had this been included, I’d likely have added it, as would many customers on a limited budget.
@MusicMan4Christ I am pretty sure the Waves plugins for Cubasis are just normally priced, no launch sales or anything. I hope I am right because I held off buying them thinking there was no rush to get them on the cheap.
I was waiting for pro-l to be updated, this looks like a great overhaul, especially like the switching between different loudness standards.
In regards to the original question, waves and fab plugins compliment each other nicely, fabs are good for precision, experimentation and have great visual feedback, waves are good for general stuff and cpu kindness.
I hope both companies offer au versions soon though, so we can use them outside of auria and cubasis.
+1
