Looking for Advice About a Good Weighted Keyboard - Not Full-Sized
I have a friend who wants to have a weighted keyboard, but not an 88 keys one.
He's not a computer music guy, so I'm thinking the best thing would be something that has its own internal sounds but could also work as a controller if someday he wants to explore that.
What do you recommend? I know that with NI controllers, the only one that's weighted is the 88 key version, but maybe it's different with other brands.

Very difficult to find a smaller controller keyboard that has weighted key action.
The Nektar Panorama P6 is the only one I know of, it is fairly expensive for a midi controller!
The P6 is only synth weighted too, isn’t it? I don’t know of any fully weighted controllers smaller than 88 keys,
New NI 49 and 61 have fatar I think
My mistake, browsing around suggests it's semi weighted with piano action rather than synth action. I would imagine secondhand Nord stage or piano is a good choice, it looks like 76 keys is the smallest version with weighted piano action so not exactly compact!
Not exactly what they asked for but,
I use a fully weighted William's Allegro, $300, 88-keys, midi in/out and decent built in sounds. Basic, but works well for guest piano players that come over for jam sessions. Williams is a Guitar Center brand I believe. Very decent for the price, and I've had it for about 5 years.
Yes, I kinda figured. You have to go 88 keys for the weighted, because those are marketed to real piano players.
I have a NI S49 and I like the Fatar action a lot, but they only have the fully weighted action on the 88. And they haven't brought out an 88 of this year's model.
I use my Roland RD-64 with my iPad apps all the time. It is a discontinued model perhaps you can find a used model. It's a great 64 note weighted keybed and meets your requirements of having some built in sounds, though they are limited, and it also has the Roland A-88 controller functionality. For sliders knobs and buttons I just add my Korg NanoKontrol and connect it all to my iPad with the Apple Camera Connector Kit and a USB hub.
