I've been messing around with SPA and Drum Studio. You can get some cool beats with the probability feature. May be a replacement for Stochastic drums.
Cooool! Looking forward to trying this later. STEPPOLYARP is an awesome app with a developer who understands the requirements of iOS musicians. Thanks for the update!
Unfortunately, The developer of Stochastik is really non-vocal about his app. Midi was promised nearly 2 years ago, Audiobus 6months ago? It appears he's busier on other non-ios things. Impossible to get info from him.
For some strange reason, I always read the name of this app as 'StereoPolyArp'.
The random feature does make it more interesting to me, but I'm still holding out for a sale on this (and ChordPolyPad).
hmmm...hasn't changed in price since its introduction three years ago, according to Appshopper!
Not sure about this for myself, as it seems to be aimed more at techno/dance/trance types of music, not my cup of tea...but if it has wider applications, rock/blues/country...it does look nice tough.
Works great with Thumbjam.
+1 on a sale on this... is it me or do apps not seem to go on sale as much as they did several months or longer ago?
anyways, how does StepPolyArp compare to Thesys? I've been thinking of getting one or the other (Genome also, but read more positive on the other 2). Any thoughts or opinions on either would be helpful.
SteapPolyArp is my favourite of the three even though this new update has removed the the option to sync manually so starting and stopping the host midi clock has no effect on SPA anymore and Thesys is very powerful but midi sync with other apps on Ipad doesn't work and
Genome is nice but there is no count in option when recording you have to fiddle and create your
Own and it's not Audiobus compatible so your fever switching between apps with the home button
Which is a flow killer.
no sync? that might be a deal breaker for me? why would they remove that?
@Halftone there is sync for example if you hold a note the arp will arp regardless of midi clock coming from an host it just catches up with host clock when it detects it where as before the arp wouldn't start until it detected midi clock so you could stop and start SPA from your host but no-longer.
I can't find the new probability setting anywhere, can someone enlighten me please.
Just tap on a note and the menu pops up.
@mgmg4871 - thanks
Anyone know if you can have a step sequence per midi channel ?
Also if you want to remove a note you can either double tap it or just flick it away.SPA has always been of of my favorite apps.It should be called an inspiration generator! Oh and mmp it's great for rock chord progressions. I use it with Thumbjam's electric guitar sent through JamUp(via Audiobus) into Cubasis.Awesome results with Animoog also. And the Dev is also great and very responsive.
@DaveMagoo - sorta. Each row can have its MIDI channel and transopse indiividually arbitrarily assigned. Tap on the left side column for the row you want to move and an edit dialog pops up.
