OT: Decent iPad stand/dock/charger?

Hey all.

There's tonnes of these on eBay in all shapes and sizes, but reviews on there (and Amazon) can be iffy so I thought I'd ask here as most of us own an iPad.

I'm looking for recommendations on a charger dock so I can just jam it on the base instead of fiddling with the lightning cable all the time.

My case is permanently on but is fairly thin and the speaker & lightning port are not covered by it.

Any reliable, solid recommendations guys?

  • None... or custom made. All the docks out there have compromises from one point or another. It’s better to invest in cck3+psu@+hub (or audio interface with hub)

  • I think that may be overkill.. I'm just looking for a charging dock to stick it on at night.

    Just for charge?

you just need a supply with enough power, depending on the demand of your iPad. An iPad2 runs fine with 0.5 Ampere from any source, an iPad4 needs at least 1 Ampere, an iPad Pro demands 2.5 Ampere.

I keep my iPads powered with USB hubs that have at least 50 Watts. There's an Anker USB hub with 60 Watts, I can recommend that one. But I'm also known to use solar powered solutions, which provide enough power for any tablets. These solutions provide 2.1-3.0 Ampere.

  • Thanks for the replies guys.
But to be honest I am just looking for suggestions on a simple dock/charger base really. But it doesn't sound like too many people out there with these.

Since we are at AudioBus forum I understood (wrongly) you asked for audio docks.
For charging I have no idea aside the original apple one.
