Short Story: Animoog Beta MacBook iFunbox fiasco
Animoog beta expired.
After a long day, I , I , I , I really don't know what happened.
So, went to use Animoog and it wouldn't work. To my surprise the beta expired.
My beta version of Animoog carried over all my timbres and presets seamlessly as I recall. As do all betas I test to my knowledge. I needed to go to the real Animoog app again. So, I did the same thing I always have done and never had a problem when re-installing a post beta return to the real app restore process.
And everything was gone.
EVERYTHING.
I had a 200 preset bank I was just getting ready to release for Christmas. Gone.
2 other entire unreleased Animoog preset banks and 2 custom timbre banks gone. Factory app ground zero.
Horror. Sadness. Rage. Confusion.
iOS has hurt me again. It has left me cold and with a used condom hanging out of my anus.
So, the logical solution. Try to find back ups I may have on Dropbox. I did have all of them on the PC that I threw away a month or 2 ago.
I locate some timbres and old preset banks but not the amazing new one and attempt to reinstall them.
Gonna need to revisit that.
iFunbox with the whole sandbox aspect of timbres and presets is a hassle on MAC. You can't delete anything you type or put in the sandbox?
I goofed and wanted to delete a folder, then a file, etc......each time deleting the app and reinstalling it for a fresh app data scenario.
I finally gave up.
And of course iTunes is a fucking pieces of shit and totally useless for this I assume. I tried to see what I could do on that an it slow and doesn't allow access into the app really. Unless I am wrong somehow. I hope I am actually.
Moral of story.
Be careful with beta testing and presets or materials you assume that if they were transferred to the beta app does not mean they auto return to the app.
Also, file system for iOS and Mac are so gloriously inept it is mind-blowing.
Thanks for listening to my rant I almost feel better.

Painful to read. Sorry for your loss.
Are we talking about some AUv3 beta of Animoog?!
I mean as long as the app(beta or non beta) stores it's files in the 'Documents' folder it doesn't matter if the beta 'times out' you can still access the files. But if the new beta version that uses some other location than 'Documents' to store it's files it will get ugly...
I got a shit ton of original presets if you want em
It's not only beta's where this can happen, and not just software either. I feel for you dude, I had something similar not so long ago with a trusted piece of kit, but that was my own carelessness.
I have also lost stuff in the past due to backups being on old PC/Laptop that i no longer had.....I learned from that and keep every backup both on a PC and on an external USB drive, and as much as my 'free' Dropbox space allows...on there as well.
On the bright side...at least you got to keep the condom
..........uh
GOT ugly.
Appreciate it.
Ornament for me tree of life.
Ouch, in that case contact the developer and ask them to re-upload the beta so you can rescue the files.
That is unless you already deleted it from your device...
(Generally apps that store files outside the 'Documents' folder should provide proper export functions and not solely rely on 'Backups').
