Battery usage on Air 2 iOS 11 utter BS
I’ve noticed major battery drain after the last update so I started checking the battery info in settings. The report seemed far fetched but I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
This time however it said standby 44 hrs and usage 8 hrs which is absolute nonsense as I’ve probably used it for 2 hours at the most and had 100% this morning.
Ibackup bot tells me that my battery’s capacity is 85% (min 8hrs) of the original (10hrs) so I’d really like to know what’s going on bad Apple.
From 100% to 43% after 2hrs of Safari seems a bit much!

Have you switched off everything in the settings you can think of? I thought I had, but some have magically switched on again. I’ve saved another hour! Still iOS 11 has undoubtedly got some battery drain issues.
Double check which apps have background app refresh as most of these were on by default after updating for me.
Also check these:
etc.
I generally have all off, auto updates, background app refresh, notifications are all off, Siri always disabled. Where does auto brightness live again. I remember turning it off (happy accident) but not sure on what of my 2 iPads and can’t see it in display settings anymore!
It's in "Screen and Brightness" if I remember correctly. But it's always good practice to double-check your settings after updating iOS, even if it's just a minor update. They have a habit of switching things back on again behind your back
I tried that, can’t see it’s made any difference. I’ve tried all the tricks, but battery life is still lower on my Air 2.
It’s now in General- then accessibility- then display accommodation
I had horrible battery life on my iPad Air 2 as well. I turned off email push updates and it has helped tremendously.
I just noticed there is an option to dull down bright colours- I don’t know if this would help too?
I am over fighting with my iPad iOS or apps integration or CPU issues and audio issues where it is all everyone else fault.
Meanwhile, I have much wasted and frustrated moments making iOS music in last 6 months.
Most issues since the iOS 7 to 8 debacle.
But LINK AU and AB3 have made things even messier at times.
The herd will be trimmed I guess.
I just wish Apple and developers did things that people actually ask for not that they think in their infinite wisdom will be a great idea............. many apps have done this.
No one asks for something and its like "here we changed everything to give you a new stupid way to do the same thing except now it uses more CPU"
LOL
Cheers, I had this on on my music iPad. I think Apple are the biggest bug of all.
turning off auto brightness, and turning on “reduce transparency” has significantly restored battery life for me
Woh, I just found the iOS REIMAGINED button. I tapped “Smart Invert”, and now I have a whole new OS! It’s faster and more powerful with longer battery now, I can just feel it.
I have been having issues with my Air2 recently(iOs 11.1.2 and even on 11.2). I am losing nearly 40% battery overnight. Like 80% when sleeping and in the morning its like 43%, it bothers me a lot. After checking battery it shows some of thr synthesizer apps running in background for 9+ hours when i have never used any synth apps for that long over the span of 24 hours. I have now turned the background app refresh off, lets see if i can get better results now.
Yeha my mini 4 is dropping battery fast af now, very dissapointing.
(edit: i HATE the automatic numbering "feature", have to write it partly again)
When you are loosing 40 percent battery over night you clearly have some background processes going on. Some - pardon - software crap is going on.

After doing all (!) of this, if your issue persists, the next steps are:
Wait 3 days (really)
Backup all of your important music data/app data (for each app you use and where you have important data)
Make a complete backup in iCloud (buy storage if needed and downgrade in case you just want to have it for troubleshooting for 30 days)
Do this 2 times in a row:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263
Yes: After completing it, do it a second time.
Restore your device from iCloud backup (absolutely useless in your case: using iTunes backup for restore - because: your issue come back to you if you use iTunes backup for restore )
Issue should be resolved now. Completely.
Automatic screen brightness was the biggest culprit for me, Apple moved the option to turn it off for reasons unclear to me, to accesibility/display accommodations/
Thanks for the link to that thread. In fact I remember there was one but couldn't find it.
To be honest rather than going through all the steps I'll turn the thing off when not in use. Yes I'll have to wait while booting up (cup of tea) but that seems like a small price to pay in context.
Turning off Auto Bright-ness and reducing transparency, sounds like an Corp Execs Mantra.
ha! good one. it’s the 1%er mantra...corporate, POTUS etc
My iPhone 7 plus battery dying after last nights upgrade.
FYI

What I'm worried about is that the battery usage report is fake news and it's algorithm has been written by Donald J Trump
we’re safe in that at least, dude can’t write english let alone code
Don't know man, the guy is in the white house, he must be doing something right.
Politics? I'm out.
It’s true though, my battery life has decreased by 15% since the Brexit vote.
yep: one of the greatest con artist/bullshitters the world has ever seen. and the sad thing is, it’s all too well documented, https://www.c-span.org/video/?414381-1/qa-david-cay-johnston
but strictly speaking he didn’t become president because of those “talents” (we have putin to thank for that. stay tuned...)
ok sorry, i’ll stop now.
I know. He's an easy target. Back to important stuff, IPad batteries!
