Beatonal?

Grabbed this, plus Pro IAP, after seeing it in a best app list, and am a bit confused. The App Store page implies this has Midi out, but I can find no way to engage this function. The ‘Advanced’ tab produces the attached page....with nothing to fiddle with.

  • If you click on MAIN it should reveal various pink buttons related to Ableton Link & BG Audio & MIDI.
You'll see four columns on the right corresponding to Drums, Bass, Chords, & Lead. Each has a dial at top of their column where you can choose the MIDI out channel for each part. The buttons are pretty rudimentary & can be sluggish when tapped on but I've managed to export MIDI as a file by tapping FILE top right. Save/load allows project save. Import/Export gives audio & midi export options.

Ah, getting there now. Not really working as desired, but some progress. Thanks.

    Edit -

Just worked out to get expected sounds playing via Midi out, you need to be using free play mode, as opposed to set pattern. Set pattern also works, just in its own way.

  • I had so far only used the export midi file function. That's helpful to know. Thanks for the heads up.

Don't forget to enable velocity. In mono mode, holding your finger at zero velocity effectively acts as an erase button for any app that can do zero velocity if youre recording the sequence in Beatonal first. Gadget for example
