Baddest iOS Synth? │ KORG iMono/Poly Review & Tutorial - haQ attaQ 259
What can I say? KORG has done an excellent job with iMono/Poly for iPad and iPhone. It's packing all the analogue-esque sound capabilities from the original Mono/Poly hardware synthesizer and the price we pay for it is ridiculous. It's a steal and it is most definitely a must have! iMono/Poly is also available as a module inside KORG Gadget as Montpelier on iPad, iPhone and Macbook.

Wow. Hooked at the intro alone. Sounds incredible!
iMono/Poly one of the best iOS synths period.
I actually prefer to use it inside Gadget as the UI elements are a bit bigger and easier to see.
One thing that bugs me though is that user presets created in iMono/Poly are not shared between Gadget.
I guess it got shredded by Zeeon, which came out around the same time at a much lower price point.
The thing that bugs me about Korg apps, is it’s just not easy to back up your own sounds. Tell me if I’ve missed it somewhere lol

In my opinion those two sounds very different from each other. I like using Zeeon for bass sounds, there's just something about how Zeeon produces low frequency material that I like.
I use iMonoPoly for pads. There's something In the mid register I really love.

Yeah not with the stand alone version. But you can export your sounds and back them up with the gadget version Montpelier.
See that’s what bugs me about the whole Korg setup - you can do certain things with certain apps and not others. Certain things with certain gadgets and not others. Communicate between certain gadgets and their stand alone and, you guessed it.....not others!
While I do appreciate the cheap prices of iOS, all these little annoying foibles just grate after a while. Yeah Korg apps are great, but I don’t use them much because of these issues. More than once I’ve lost some great sounds I’ve made with Korg apps because backups are not designed in a fluid manner.
I extend this rant to many other synths that have non user friendly save systems!
So i'm seriously thinking about getting Gadget for mac now, since the price isn't that ridiculous anymore. Can you exchange your own presets between the iOS Gadget Montpellier and the macOS Gadget Montpellier, as well as the standalone VST?

Funny , when it was actually out in the 80’s everyone wanted the Poly six. We didn’t realize this one was better in many ways. I have it. It’s the quintessential analog sound . And wow, WHAT a tutorial!
"Beast" is accurate. The fourth preset "The Sequel" already did it for me. And when you consider the modulation matrix, you might actually be correct. How many modulation sources are there, like 40 ? It's a monster. Sigh, i'm gonna have to get this on iOS as well...

Oh, and iMono/Poly is even badder still! I wondered if I was alone thinking how impressive it sounded but I am glad to hear that I was not alone in that thought. It is a beast!
