Beathawk file management

So I'm committing to Beathawk as my AUv3 drum machine of choice and I'm starting to build kits for it. I'm really annoyed that all the samples I import from AudioShare end up in one folder. So I have a few questions:

1) Is there a way to move files to individual kit folders?
2) When I save a kit it doesn't save the pad mapping - what gives?
3) Is there any way to rename imported files?

  • Check the manual.

There are plenty of 'two finger tap' options to be found for rename, create folders etc.

  • DUH!

Ok - still no way to move files, but there are some folder creation/renaming things so that's better.

Any thoughts on presets not saving the pad mapping?

Could be a bug or something.
I'll re-install Beathawk again when/if it get's proper tools for sampling and creating instruments until then it's stays away from my iPad...

  • I use BH for my main AU drums too

One issue that has been bugging me in BH is when in AU3 and loading a kit ( like acoustic kit for example) they keyboard (in aum or cubasis) play a chromatic single sample, I have to reload the kit onto another pad then it usually works right. Also sometimes when recalling saved project it does t load my preset correctly!

When I do sample drum breaks I usually just use reslice and save preset.

Love beathawk tho, we need some more drum packs for it I think.

  • I'm starting to think that I need to save presets using the AUM preset button - the three orange lines in the upper left corner of the AU window. When I do that, then Beathawk will remember the pad mapping and the other details of the patch that magically get lost.

For a free app, Beathawk is amazing. It's especially amazing that they offer the full functionality for no charge - no IAP upgrades other than sound packs. For that alone, I'll struggle along with it's few limitations.

Definitely NOT a free app. You must have been one of the lucky ones who grabbed it during the few days they dropped it to free back in September. It’s a $9.99 app, and has been for most of its life, except for a few sales.

And worth every penny, IMO. It was the first app that really turned me on to the iPad. Still use it a lot. But the fantastic ever growing IAP expansions are a big part of the fun too. :p

  • Well there you go - I got it for free and had no idea it was a paid app. Sweet! It was most definitely worth the price then...
