  • The pace @intua is setting is stunning! I can only imagine how hard they've worked before the release, since it took them forever to release it. And they haven't slowed down a bit.

Another big update from Intua for such a powerful app. Absolutely amazing work.

$20/40+iPad? Seems to me to be a tremendous bargain.
I've spent a little more $ for MPC5000, Spectralis 2, Tempest that were full of bugs for at least a year or two before they were sorted out. And some were never fixed. Those are still amazing machines, but $20 for BM3+iPad? A few years ago I would have thought that this was an April Fools joke.

Yeah it's interesting, I'm seeing BM3 mentioned more and more even in the bigger magazines like Sound On Sound as a viable alternative to Maschine or MPCs.

I think from a featureset standpoint, it can't be beat.
It's just a question of the packaging, external interfaces, charging, etc. I feel at the beginning all the manufacturers came out with iPad Docks, keyboards etc, but i guess they got burned by apple with the rapidly changing formfactors and dock connectors/lighning.

Wow, too much hate in this thread. BM3 is amazing!

  • With big apps there's bugs, they fix bugs, they add new features and more bugs. That's the cycle of even a great program like Logic Pro. It doesn't really limit the effectiveness of the app.

BeatMaker 3 is a solid value for the money. If you're not sure, you should watch Dean's (electronisounds) YouTube videos and see what he's doing with the app. It's not some bugfest that prevents the user from making music.

My thoughts exactly. This also reminds me when my co-worker was talking about how in the world of 3d-printing, those who whine the loudest on internet about some printer being bad because its missing some feature or what ever, are usually those with least knowledge and practical experience with different printers. To someone with not enough knowledge, a bug or missing feature will seem like a deal breaker or at least a huge minus. But then if you have more knowledge and knowhow about printers, you easily realize that the same printer that the newbies bash is actually very good, its just that those newbies doesent realize that there are other more important factors and that you can easily overcome those problems..

And as a disclaimer, im not saying that everyone dissatisfied with bm3 is a newbie, just saying that there might be similar thing going on with some people and ofc some people, like those wanting to play gigs with it have real concerns that luckily are being worked on :)

  • Just updated awesome, thanks @intua! Let the Odessa / BM3 party start!

Another thing that would be awesome, would be that forum function you sometimes see where you can ‘hide’ users, which by default closes comments from users you select.

There are still some bugs and laggy behavior in mpc5000. Nothing major, but for example in the pianoroll editor the cursors visuals sometimes drifts to a different place where it actually is(but jumps to right place when you insert a note, delete or what ever), few times after recording automation over a loop, the mpc wouldnt stop recording and wouldnt stop playback or respond to anything else for a few seconds.

I think mpc5000 still has more bugs per feature than bm3 and its now like a 10 year old hardware..

    This

  • 3.0.7 is live now!!!

  • I wish they make bm3 controller, something like akai mpc studio black

  • I’m still unable to send midi to multiple pads of a drum kit. Have tried everything people have suggested but no joy :(

I agree. I’d back them if they decide to kickstarter the idea

It’s working well here. Have set up Rosetta Rhythm sending to all pads of a kit.
Just make sure you have the Rozeta mappings set to the pad numbers.

Yes. I would sell my mpc for it if it were more than just a basic pad controller

If you mean when using a midi controller you have to set it up in this window

Ok got this working but let me ask you this. When I go away from the bank that has drums on it. I lose the sound. Meaning if I switch back to the bank that has rozeta on it bank a, bank b’s sound does not play. Does that happen to you?

  • @Chaztrip said:

That's not happening for me. I've currently set up two banks. One bank has a plugin on a pad sequenced by Bassline and the other bank B has all pads being sequenced by Rhythm. If I switch banks it still works ok.

This is a fresh installation of BM3 for me since I bought a new ipad last week. Not sure if that helps or not.

Not good. I have rebooted it and no joy.

I also have a different Rozeta on each of the banks, so my drum pads bank also has Roseta on the same bank on one of the pads. Not sure if that makes a difference.....

Uggg. This is going to drive me crazy. I put rozeta on same bank has drums. It works fine until I go to a different bank then no sound.

  • @Chaztrip In the midi settings, do you have "route all midi to selected pad" on or off?

Here is quick video. Rozeta is in same bank as drums.

Route the MIDI in the pad / bank view not inside the bank then it should work. It did for me. Long press and set :)

  • I was having the same issue until I changed the Omni setting in midi settings.

What? Where I thought I was.

  • @Chaztrip

I'm not using the focus actions editor at all for my setup, can't remember as haven't used BM3 for a while but maybe that overrides it somehow and always triggers the selected bank.

If I don’t the drums sound horrible.

Not sure what you mean but from what I can see from your video you're not setting up the bank midi settings:
