Hi guys, Eugene from Ultimate Guitar here. Excuse me for being a slowpoke and not replying for so long.

    1. AmpKit and Tonebridge. Under the hood of Tonebridge there is really an AmpKit sound engine. Agile parters, a company that owns AmpKit, is owned by Ultimate Guitar (for several years). But we went further and updated the engine in the end of 2016—added splines, power sag effect, updated the stereo effects a bit etc. So if you love AmpKit sound, you will love Tonebridge sound even more.

    2. Free Tone Wizard. We launched Tone Wizard feature as a paid feature to test the demand (and run a test in Great Britain and Australia). The numbers we got in the test told us that it's better to make the feature free, and now you can tweak presets for free

Feel free to ask any questions about the app, I will be happy to answer.

    P. S. A huge update is coming… Tweaking pre-made presets is good, but guess what could be better than that? ;)

Very interesting, thank you for the info/insight. I love this app, it sounds great! I go between it and Bias FX, most of the time.

  • I tried making a custom tone in AUM, but had no luck loading Tonebridge as an IAA effect.
It worked fine as an Audiobus effect, though.

If the IAA effect mode worked in AUM, I could design a tone, save the preset, then replace the IAA with an AU instance and load the preset I just made. Then I could load Tonebridge IAA in another track and design another preset, save it, open it in an AU instance, and so on.

With the app not loading as an IAA effect in AUM, I am stuck in the mud.

If anyone is successful loading the IAA effect in AUM, post about it and I will try some more. I give up for now.

  • Although I haven’t had a chance yet to try Tonebridge since the update I look forward to doing so since choices are so slim for AU guitar effects. I didn’t like TB at first because I don’t want or need pre-made patches. I’m happy with the tone of several amp/effect apps including Tonebridge.

The first company to make an AU amp/effect “rig” that allows a hardware pedal to switch between 2 to 4 patches seamlessly (like, in a song) AND lets a player tweak some things within the AU interface (as Dawdles mentions - any effect with a rate needs to be accessible at least)... that company wins in my view. It’s the minimum required for proffessional use. I have owned VSTs that managed it quite well, so my hope is we will get there in iOS/AU eventually.

Not loading as IAA happens if you didn't open any preset in the app. Try to go to Tonebridge, open any preset and then add it as IAA. Or you can just use it as an Audio Unit—more flexible than IAA ;-)
