Non-wav exports: you can export MPC Desktop and export MIDI as well. We’ve included the ability to archive projects and import them back into iMPC Pro too!

    Cool... Export Midi...

How is this different from BM3? A comparison video would be really informative. I have never used previous versions of impc pro. I have BM3 but this looks interesting.

It fills gap between iMaschine 2 (too simple, lack of lot important features) and BM3 (too overcomplicated specially in terms of workflow/UX) .. But basically it's same segment (sampling oriented grooveboxes rooted in "MPC paradigm", with less (imaschine) or more (bm3) DAW-like functionalities)

  • The 'session export' to a *.zip archive makes Files.app integration even more important for archival purposes!
iMPC Pro 2 exports the zip file to it's 'Documents' folder (ie. iTunes Folder) and having that folder visible in Files.app would make archiving without a computer a breeze :)

  • does this have. piano roll too? where you can draw in notes?

  • does it have midi out?

Our that’s good, still on the fence about getting it now anyhow see how it goes. Still no bundle Apple can be really slow sometimes.

If it's a toss up between iMPC Pro and the pub...you know what makes sense...

I'm waiting for the bundle too so hopefully it will not take that much longer :)

    Pub “bundle” :)

  • I see that the audio engine from Looperverse has been adapted for the audio tracks. But no Audiobus this time again. Would definitely be much more appealing with AB3.

BM3 still seems to have a lot more going for it but nice to see it evolving.

Session archiving is the killer feature for me being on a 16gb device......busy getting what I have put into BM3 out again in preparation for the bundle going live.

If it put the archive into audio copy it would be ok, as you can access files app, Dropbox etc from there.

AudioCopy here would be an extra and unneeded step since iMPC Pro 2 already archives into the 'Documents' folder. With a small addition to the iMPC Pro 2's info.plist file the archived material would be accessible via the Files.app and one could easily drag'n'drop it from there DropBox or any other place.

For 'non iOS11' users the same could be accomplished buy using the iOS 'Share Sheet' as an export option, from there the exported *.zip file could me sent to DropBox. For 'import' supporting the standard iOS Document Picker the user could load a *.zipped' session directly from DropBox into iMPC Pro 2.

So yeah, I'm all in for supporting standard IOS features for file management.

As it is so simple to do, and retronyms aren’t daft, there is a reason why they haven’t. Because they want you to use audio copy.

  • Any know if this has midi clock ?

Taylor from @retronyms might be able to answer that but I do feel that in the long run supporting standard iOS features over proprietary ones will gain more user acceptance and make the app play well together with others :)

Well if it has proper file system I KNOW YOU ARE ALL ABOUT IT ! LOL

  • I already paid for iMPC, then iMPC "PRO" and it felt like they never finished that version, why are they trying to make me pay again for this version which coud have been easily an update of version 1?
Anyway, BeatMaker 3 seems better in every way….am I mising anything?

  • To me, I see the future of this app shining bright.

Not only is it an instrument.

But a host app to provide an option instead of AB or AUM.

It also is really a DAW if you want it to be with the MIDI as designed.

I am thinking about an entire workflow shift in fact.

Plus Audiocopy upgrades and options are awesome so I am really excited. They made better without breaking anything which is so rare.

    GREAT JOB

    I

Well the bundle price should deduct whatever we paid for the previous pro version so in total we are only paying the current app value. As an extra bonus the new version comes with several free of charge packs as downloadable content. All good for me :)

My guess (and it's all toast anyway) is that if you are deeply/successfully into BM3 this is not required on voyage, but if, like the slow kids (self), BM3 proves hard to work with slickly, this will be appealing. I guarantee there will be some teething troubles (as ever) which will leave the Ret. guys under the microscope as regards responsiveness. but contrary to the old proverb, maybe this is their next chance to make a good first impression.

I hafta say that all of this recent activity reminds me of a few years ago when I got the original iMPC Pro and found it buggy and frustrating in certain areas, I also had BM2 which was not fluid enough in UX and thus was always wishing that NanoStudio had audio etc. Can only imagine NS2 will be the next on the list and then the circle will be completed...:)

The only thing is that iMPC Pro first time around had a smell associated with it because of lack of AB, with the inclusion (and rise) of AU now that probably won't hurt so much, but THEY MUST iron the bugs out/respond to larger user concerns (if there are any) to things like AudioCopy which I still don't trust (yet). If you can't get stuff easily in and out the purpose will be defeated....

    Optimistic, but realistic.

Apps need constant development with less and less money coming from the app for that development. I see this approach of a new app every now and then as the only way that devs can really pay for continued development without going down the awful pay for use route.

Yeah having a bundle and with some new sound packs seems very fair to me.

The UI on this looks so much like the UI on BM3 even down to the style of fonts and colour.

    really

I think it is just like iMPC which predates both. ;)

    +1 Exact same feeling here.

There is a real opportunity here.....also as they have now made an au host, perhaps iMini, Phase84 will get the AU treatment......that IS something to look forward to.

Same here. I own every version for iPad and iPhone and also feel that this only seems like something that could have been an update to the existing iMPC pro version.
Also still annoying that Audiobus is still not supported in this latest release. I think they never wanted to support AB so they could push Tabletop more, but since TT is not supported in this latest version either I don't see why they at least couldn't add AB support.

I own BM3 as well which can do all of it and then some (AU FX etc.). In comparison to BM3, iMPC Pro2 seems rather a bit lacking still as a complete new release.

Once the upgrade bundle becomes available i might still consider making the move, mostly also bc of the free dlc which is a nice incentive that justifies the purchase. But the delay of the bundle definitely make this app lose a lot of momentum. I would have instantly jumped on it yesterday but today I am not so sure anymore. I will probably wait to read more user reviews of the app.
