Other generative music apps like moodscaper, Refraktions, etc?

Doesn't necessarily have to be ambient, but I'm loving improvisational jams with GeoShred over moodscaper/guitarscaper/pianoscaper that I'm anxious to find similar apps for a bigger jam palate.

  • Wotja. Run, do not walk.

  • Nodebeat might interest you - internal synth, or can send midi out to other synths.

  • You can roll your own moodscaper instruments too. You can try Xynthesizr with some mellow randomizing and low tempo as well. Also, you can try the new Particles in Rozeta. You need to provide some synth pads to those, but Xynthesizr has a nice synth inside of it too. Wotja went subscription, so I stopped using it. It was good though :( .

I hate subscription, too. I will never buy an app on a subscription basis - this is for sure. In case of Wotja there is an "annual" version without subscription (and only one year of update):

This version seem to be a bad idea, because 2017 has not so many days left (afaik). They say they plan a new 2018 annual version. The good thing: The "annual" versions can be used for an unlimited time. No subscription needed.

  • Quincy, Mixtikl, Noatikl, Stravinski, Sound Cells, Musyc Pro, Pyxis Minor

Xynthesizr, Rozeta, Wotja, NodeBeat, Refraktions, Quincy, Poly...

Also Oscilab! DotMelody though they aren't automated changing the wave forms on Oscilab and pressing the random button in both can yield good results.
Pressing the random button in Vyrsyns synths and stand alone Arp is neat too.

Any Ruiz Drum Machines, for rhythm :)

  • Different Drummer if you dare to venture into that app. ;)

  • Scape FYI not Audiobus or anything connected

  • Also Robotic Drums

The other thing about the annual versions is that their price decreases as the year goes on, so Wotja 2017 is actually a bit of a bargain at the moment. No more updates, but if you find down the line that you need them, you may still end up saving on what you'd have paid on the subscription version.

Mixtikl and Noatikl have gone, sadly: both now rolled into Wotja. It gets way more updates, which is good, but there are still Noatikl features I miss (bar count, random start key...).

That's right. I keep them on my no updating allowed device along with Alchemy, Calestis, Thicket, and some other doomed favorites.
Actually, I haven't yet picked up the new all-in-one Wotja.
