Lightning Connection snapped in ipad
Incandesent! Cant get the ******er out try as i might with pins, watch screwdriver.......... what a shitty design!

Photos or it didn’t happen. Not that I doubt you, of course.
its a common thing apparently . end pins snap inside.... did I mention it fell from where is was charging? perhaps its a sign to go back to ableton........
legit cable ? i'm genuinely curious.
Wonder if a magnet would work? If you have an Apple store near you, they'll get it out.
Also, ouch. Sorry that happened!
As frustrating as the usb micro jack on my Korg nanoKEYstudio snapping right off the circuit board. Very cheap component with poor mechanical support. Crappy design. Now I can only use it with bluetooth on battery power. Very frustrating as I hardly used it, and it broke. Grrrr!
I'm hearing that apple stores wont help in store (They don't dismantle onsite) - so looking at independent repairs. It was an apple lead - the design is such that there will always be a weak spot in the lightning connector albeit I understand it happens more often with cheap leads
Find yourself a small but relatively long screw. Screw the tip in and pull the screw. If need be you might need to drill a tiny pilot hole. I know, kids gloves job but might be your only solution short of replacing the whole charging port.
I'm quite amazed Apple hasn't adopted mag technology on iPads as well!
Or is it coming with IPad X to piss off all the dock users?
Thanks for the tip!
mag technology is based on pins as well ... and quite a smart item to pretend a broken connector
Had this recently with a Macbook Air that reguarly lost charging connection and wielding the cable a bit brought it back for a while until it failed again. Exactly like the symptoms of a broken cable, but the latter looked perfectly in shape.
With the help of a tiny pair of tweazers I grabbed the (very) small center pin and pulled it outward a bit, plugged in and the bugger worked again.
Not a proper repair solution, but valid to identify the source of the problem.
The concept behind this (imho): the centerpin is intentionally tiny, so it will get squashed over time just enough to fail making connection - to be cured by a replacement PSU
If you had a magnet the power MacBook charger..........................
I have a Bamboo stylus. ($65). But the charger is a magnet styled liked the MacBook magnet.
If you had this - you may get it out with it.
It holds the stylus freely off wall.

use “the force”
how the hell do you break off a lightning inside the iPad? Shag on top of it?
Try a really tiny drop of super glue on the tip of an electriction tiny flathead screwdriver. Touch it against the broken piece and hold TIL set. It might have enough to pull out then, as long as you can make sure the glue touches nothing else
Not as hard as you might imagine. It has never happened to me as I treat my IPads better than my kids but...
Just try and plug your ipad into the wall socket and then pick it up with both hands so the cable is at 90 degrees relative to the screen. This will snap the lightning plug avery time, but especially the cheap ones.
Man, I feel you. Reading your description it felt like my neck broke
I hope you get it sorted out. And be nice to your kids.
Cheers - its in for repairs - Xmas cancelled for this year, kids devastated but it will be a valuable life lesson
