Brusfri Update

This great little app just became 100 percent more useful for me. It was an AU, but now it is also a standalone. It’s rather more expensive than I remember, but it works beautifully. If you have noisy field recordings, this is a must.

Comments

  • I'm interested but I'll wait for a sale. Current price is maybe a little steep for what it does?

  • The VST is getting great feedback on the GS forum: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/product-alerts-older-than-2-months/1181678-klevgrand-produkter-releases-brusfri-noise-reducer.html

It looks like we’re getting another good deal on iOS.

  • There is an app for reducing noise? I‘m adding noise to any of my mixes. I guess I‘m doing it wrong.

  • Files.app support would be pure candy for this app :)

If you're bored, you can add, remove, add, remove noise and see what remains - as noise reduction is a lossy process, who knows, this can be a new effect for itself :D

I see its main use in de-noising live recordings in any app that supports it.
I've used it in Audio Evolution after some live recordings, and it works well!
    Select "noise" area, "Learn", process.
Export the result to AudioShare, done.

Unfortunately, AudioShare does not support AU plugins for live recording...

Workaround is to record using AUM, it saves directly to AudioShare :)

  • Brusfri is a brilliant noise remover; I wish it had come out a few months earlier than it did — would have saved me hours and hours of work and given a better result (having recorded lots of vocals in less-than-ideal settings). Seems to only need a second (or even less?) of background noise for reference, and leaves my recordings incredibly clean without damaging the 'proper' sound at all (to my non-expert ears at least).

If you're recording speech or vocals in your bedroom or wherever, whatever they're charging is worth it. You singer-songwriter types.

A noise removal app/AUv3 was long overdue, and I'm glad we have it now, and I'm glad it was Klevgr who made it because everything they make is easy to use and understand.

Agree completely. And I'm super-cheap and highly suspicious of magical EQ apps. The standalone makes it easy for me to batch process (so to speak) all the iPhone field recordings made during a week.

  • I'm not sure how it does what it does, but to my ears it works way better then any vst I have tried so far. Well worth the price if you're recording, specially with built in mic or other cheap mics.

  • huh, well thanks for the input, everyone. Sounds like it is worth the asking price so I'm in!

  • Oh that's such great news, my iOS is too old for AU but I really wanted to use Brusfri. Now I can! Hurray!

I agree that it's pricey. Do Klevgrand apps usually have a holiday sale?

We singer-songwriter (kinda) types approve of/agree with this review.

  • What is it 15 bucks now? Its more than worth it if youre making any sort of semi-professional iPad tracks with external instruments or vocals. If you’re not, then it’s probably not. It’s perfect for my favorite Telecaster that really needs some work on it, though.

Please god, no. A big part of the telecaster sound is the noise.

  • Klevgr apps do go on sale but quite rarely. I wouldn't count on this going down soon since it came out a few months ago and it's only just gone to full price a couple of weeks ago.

No, it’s different. I have some wiring problems with mine that I’ve yet to fix and that leads to a short very easily. I couldn’t currently use it to record without a gate/noise reducer.

  • Thanks for the positive comments on Brusfri. There's a dedicated webpage and a new demo video if anyone wants to know more about it.

It makes no sense how good this is

  • This came to the top of the audiobus forum when I needed it most.

Did multiple tests with this and will be using it on all of my Apogee One (Omni Condenser Mic) recordings from now on.

I have a ceiling fan/light combo in my music room that is simply pouring out buckets of EMF. I only discovered this after completely rewiring my guitar, believing the guitar was the problem. Oh well.

  • Very useful to have this now as a standalone app...worth every penny

    ...much cheaper than
    eliminating EMF
    and sound proofing
and getting screens big enough to cut wind noise when recording outside
and re-recording when you notice a background noise that you didn't notice when recording

  • Dammit!!!!!!!! You all are convincing me to buy yet another app!!!! This reminds of of that app called "soap" back in the day for Mac, worked wonders just like this.

Absolutely. A major help for vocal people who are also crap recorders/producers/engineers (self).

  • Sweet. JUST got my first handheld recorder. Great share thanks. Yeah i remember SOAP. It made my stuff sound "phasey".
