The times it worked felt magical and it worked really really well. There were just too many ‘dead in the water for no apparent reason without clear means of resuscitation’ moments for me to go back to it again.

Yeah, I’m not sure I need another unstable, unpredictable thing in my life right now. But being able to use my FX apps in Reason, without shelling out another grand for the desktop versions is tempting, and Iso seems to have got it working.

Just realised I have Midimux (think it was on offer at some point), so I’m going to have a play with that. It doesn’t do audio, but theoretically it should allow me to control PC MIDI instruments via the iPad. If that goes smoothly then Studiomux might be a contender.

Seems to be working without a problem in Reason now. No particular starting order. I'm using it as a send effect. Studiomux seems to be one of those weird programmes that once working, is really solid, but has a bit of a mind of it's own. Seems like you have to ask it nicely to play nice! Works great for me in Ableton 10 , use it most days, and i don't really have to think about it, it's just a tool in the box that works every time. Of course it may depend on your individual set-up, but it's working for me with this one.........

That’s good to hear! I’m going to try out Midimux later, see how that goes, but Studiomux with Audio is the one I want. The effects that come with Reason are ok, and I’ve also got some with Komplete, but my iOS fx are the most creative. Letting those loose inside Reason will be a blast.

Is it easy setting up the fx send in Studiomux and Reason?

Just right click in the master FX Return section, a menu comes up, select "Create Send FX,, FX come up in the browser, scroll down, select Zerodebug: studiomux effect, double click, activate the studiomux effect send in the track you want, adjust the amount as required,......your good to go.............

    Thank you!

Have just realised, that you can't record the effected audio from the FX returns onto an audio track. You would need to render it live. Just use studiomux FX as a regular vst, and record your sound into an audio track the way you would normally. In Studiomux FX vst, remember to make sure the Receive From & Send To drop down menus are on the same channel. I had forgotten this....that's why it sometimes wasn't working. They were on different channels. Hope this makes sense. It's pretty straightforward once you get your head round it..........and is working well on my set-up.

Yeah that makes sense - thanks for the explanation, I’ll be going back to this thread when I get it.

I was planning to test Midimux today, but haven’t got a male-to-male USB lead, so I’ll need to sort that first.

Ah...I was going to use the adapter thing, I could probably just use the normal USB/lighting power cable. Doh!

The other handy thing is, it will keep your iPad charged. If for some reason your not getting enough power from your USB ports, download this free utility: https://event.asus.com/mb/2010/ai_charger/
I have been running it for a couple of years, works a treat......... :)

  • Haven’t used the Studiomux app for a while. Tried connecting iPad to laptop yesterday. Straight lightning connection on windows 10. Vst showing up in all DAWs. However keep getting the message in VST window no iPad connected. If I load in a simple synth on iPad same thing. However can see midi if I trigger a key on my midi keyboard. The server it’s the latest update notice the server icon keeps dropping out / disappearing from the tool bar.

I found this problem to be intermittent over the years this app has been out. Some days it works some days not. Tried restarting laptop DAW etc still doesn’t show up my iPad.

Have no problem with Touchable from same dev.

    It’s frustrating.
