Focusrite iTrack stereo microphone for $10 (or less)

https://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-iTrack-Pocket-Portable-Microphone/dp/B00NB42FTG/

Focusrite seems to have abandoned the software for this, but it still works as a stereo microphone and mono instrument interface. I've tested it with an electric guitar and Tonestack, but mostly I use the stereo microphone and record whatever I'm playing into Audioshare. I don't know whether the mics are better than the latest iPhone microphones, but I don't have the latest iPhone. I'm just recording ideas, anyway.

Amazon has them for US$10, $8 if you have Prime.

  • The microphone aspect of it doesn't interest me too much (I do have a Blue Snowball USB), but is it a digital interface for guitar and a mic plus phone stand for $8? I almost have to try it for that price, although I've found that with guitar interfaces, "digital" doesn't necessarily mean "noise free". The 30-pin Griffin Studio Connect a lot of use bought for under $40 is basically useless with guitar.

Are you on iOS11? Some people are complaining about it not working anymore, but that could be just in reference to the software, which I don't care about.

    Yes.

I'm not on iOS 11, but I believe those comments are in reference to the software.

  • Thanks for the tip! I just ordered one for $8.59 (after tax). Crap, at that price, I'll use the thing for a phone stand even if it doesn't do anything useful with audio! Pretty sure I have a metal phone stand that cost more than that.

I snooped around a little and found that this thing retailed for $79.99 just a couple of years ago! The (now-defunct software) actually looked kind of useful, but not overly deep.

The microphone seems to have an iShit™ quality. Noise generator.

  • I'm still seeing this on Ebay for around $80. I will try it for $8 though. Hope the guitar interface works good.

I ordered it earlier today. I will let you know how it is when it arrives in a couple of days.

  • I bought one for $20 2 months ago when my line 6 toneport suddenly stopped working. It is great for guitar (bass for me). I haven’t even used the mics, but they do work. The only thing I don’t like is that Anytune doesn’t recognize it as a guitar interface. But it works fine with the amp sim apps and GarageBand. And no added noise that I’ve heard.

The griffin studio connect is not good at all for guitar, really noisy. And mine broke pretty quickly, the volume knob doesn’t work for headphones. The line out still works. Sadly, I can’t use it with the ipad1 I was given, I updated the studio connect firmware to work with newer ios versions and I guess that messed something up with 5.1.1, it would have made a nice little system to turn that into a sound module.
