The reviews for Egoist across the board are all glowing. Even the more recent ones well beyond the hype period that always follows a new app. Sale is on for a bit yet. Definitely interested based on their other apps I have and like a lot. Thanks for the feedback :)

I don’t use it tracks much, though my new interest in Launchpad might change all that. But, every time I open and play with it I enjoy myself immensely, and always wonder why I don’t use it more.

I gave it 5 stars on release, and I’d do the same today.

And don't forget that five stars from the Fence Baron is worth seven in old money look :)

    LOL! Noted :)

I'm building a new song right now and had a keyboard riff that was uninspired. Two minutes in Egoist and I have a funky slab of goodness I can build on.

I do remix stuff for fun as well. This one started in Egoist and ended in BM3:

Good stuff! I was about to ask if Egoist’s features might be somewhat redundant with BM3 + Effectrix

  • The thing is that you have to use them for a while until you know which ones you really need. My tipp: Download the demo versions of the desktop plugins and play around with them (install them on a Win machine and access them with a free RDP client from the iPad, just to get the feeling ;)
Egoist is definitely an instant-buy-again for me.
The slice selectors are very fiddly and the drummer is quite limited, but the slicing features and the full master + slave MIDI SYNC (!) support make up for that.
I used to be a Turnado fan because of its deep capabilities, but I lost the fun of using it frequently because the UI is too fiddly, even when using the double-tap zoom feature.
I go to Effectrix more and more, because tweaking FX is much more intuitive and immediate, and the selection of FX is after my taste.

Thesys is just as fiddly - I really prefer the desktop plugin because you're faster clicking with a mouse than missing-and-hitting-again those tiny elements on an iPad Mini.

Unique plain sucks. Egoist is the most interesting and most fun, and I’m not really a sampler/electronic music kinda guy.

What is it people don’t like about unique. Just curious since I notice Jacob Haq has it in his top 10 synths of the year.

I find the sound rather hollow. Sounding sweet around the edges but lacking punch.
