    Hey guys,
does anyone know how I can import perfomances from my ipad? I have legacy banks (fxb) but I dont see any "iwavestation" folder no my ipad or icloud. Even when I export sound data I cant see it anywhere. I didint find any info about that. Thank you for help.

You can access the iWAVESTATION file system by hooking up to a Mac or to a Windows PC with iTunes. iMazing will also have access to the folder, but you will still need a Mac or PC.

I'm not sure about the (fxb) file type. iWAVESTATION only exports .iws files, and only lists available import types as "iWAVESTATION", "KORG Legacy Collection", and "Original WAVESTATION SysEx".

[edit] it appears KORG Legacy Collection is the format for .fxb file type.

I downloaded the Richard Devine Sound Bank and copied it to the iWAVESTATION folder of my iPad in the MacOS finder after hooking up my iPad via USB. Then I selected File > Import sound data > KORG Legacy Collection, and the file appeared. I imported it. The import overwrote all three User cards.

  • I you can download an fxb file to iPad, no Mac or PC needed.
Just share the file with iWavestation and it will automatically import the content into the user bank(s), as it will do with original Wavestation sysex.
Overwriting user data isn‘t the most convenient solution, but at least the process is fast o:)

Maybe not quite so straightforward if the file is on another device rather than something downloaded from the web and if it's a .fxb file, which is what the question is about.

Also, I don't get the import to iWAVESTATION option on the share sheet with a .fxb file even once it's downloaded to the device.

I‘m on an Air One (ios 12) where the Files app is almost total crap...
I saved your zip to Documents (the Readdle app), unzipped it and selected „Share with...“ then picked iWavestation from the list, got the warning about overwriting and confirmed ok.
Switched to user bank and there it was.

I‘ve saved from the iWavestation menu and it created some files, but no folder anywhere yet.

  • Try making crazy patches and then driving it with @Alexandernaut Fugue Machine.

  • @peewee183 @wim @telefunky As I mentioned in the thread above, it might be better to use the iTunes walled-off folder, because the interface inside of iWavestation after you do that is better. You don't have to keep killing iWavetation to switch sysex files for instance.

I haven‘t used custom bank setup yet, i.e only loaded full banks.
The question how to get banks from one device to another was exceptionally easy in my case, maybe because I didn‘t use iWavestations file menu at all.
One may download the file, airdrop, use a pendrive or whatever.
Once the file is on the target iPad all it takes is to share it with iWavestation and the user bank(s) get filled automatically.

  • Revisited iWavestation on my iPad after this thread got updated.

Such an wonderful synth (hardware) and also as software for iOS!

One day when I found a mint condition Korg Wavestation for sale, I will grab it immediately…

It's one of my favorite gadgets but make sure you check out the Wavestate and its software editor before you go for the original hardware ;)

  • Is it possible to load this app into Gadget Lite in order to get Link? Or does one need buy the whole Gadget to get the Wavestation tempo linked?

    Thanks for mention Korg Wavestate!

Sadly I’ve totally missed that synth from Korg…

Now I’ve gotten into hard choices - Wavestation used or a new Wavestate mkII…

In the same time, I had some love for older synths, and have a few topsellers at home, like Roland D50, Korg Triton Extreme, Yamaha DX7, Korg M1, Korg MS2000 etc - the point with buying an mint Wavestation would be to stimulate my need for collecting thing 😃😃

I've had both (and I still own the Wavestate) and although the newer one is much cheaper as a new purchase, it's no comparison. Much better front panel, much better sounds and lots more factory samples, and unlike the original Wavestation, composing wave sequences has become fun again. The editor/virtual version is much better as well.
Its plasticky appearance doesn't look classy but what hides behind it is nothing short of a powerhouse.
Oh, and there's a sample mapping utility to import your own samples into flash mem (no loading times).

I would LOVE to buy an iOS version of the Korg Wavestate 🤩
But will not hold my breath as it seems unlikely to happen in a near future.

    That would be incredible!
I've asked about improved touch support for the Windows version last year (including larger UI controls) but apparently KORG weren't interested, at least not back then.
Although it works on a tablet, it would require a UI overhaul to be really fun to use.
