Which drum machine apps support the iOS 11 files app?

iMaschine 2 doesn’t..
i’ve moved my studio sample library to iCloud Drive so it syncs across devices (laptop, iPad, Mac Pro, Iphone etc), but I can’t find an app that allows me to quickly audition and assign sounds from my iCloud Drive to pads to play and sequence without having to mess around going via audio copy / paste etc. Since iOS 11 has been out for a while now, surely there is a major app that offers what i’m looking to, impc 2?

Thanks

  • BM3 and Groove Rider, GarageBand (Audio & Sampler) for starters.
Some apps have import using 'Document Picker' and this allows the user to 'browse in files' as well.

Apps doing export using 'Open In...' / 'Share Sheet' can store directly folders of other apps supporting 'Files.app'.

  • Excellent, thanks Samu

  • You can import samples from files app in Patterning

  • Thanks guys, i’ll Check these out - what i’m Looking for ideally is a simple EXS24 style sampler where I can import a bunch of samples from the files app and map them chromatically on a keyboard ready to trigger instantly and record midi parts with them

Both Cubasis(one layer, multiple splits) and BM3 (layers and splits and loads more) can do that.
GarageBand's sampler has a limitations of one sample per instrument.

There's still no fully featured 'AUv3 Sampler' so you'd have to re-create the instruments in each app.

Another option would be to create SF2 files on the computer (using for example Polyphone) and use BS-16i to play them.

  • BM3 is on holiday sale right now so I’ll check this out, very much looking forward to a fully featured AUv3 Sampler to use between daw apps

    Thanks again

  • Loving BM3 after an hour of working it out, i realised I can use iOS 11’s split screen drag and drop between apps to have the BM3 pads on one half and iOS 11 files app on the other side of the screen. This way I can audition the sounds from my extensive sample library which lives on iCloud Drive, and drag and drop the sounds I like onto BM3 pads quickly and easily. Lovely!

It would be great if there were an app which let you quickly audition sound files on iCloud Drive by just clicking on them. Workflow with files app is click the file, it opens up a QuickTime window to allow you to play the sound, then you click back to to back a level and return to the list and repeat. MacOS equivalent would be press space to start ‘quick look’ then use arrow keys up and down

Precisely why drag and drop from AudioShare is at the top of my wishlist. Absent that hopefully in iOS 12 Files will get a preview option without the quick time window
