Really stupid question and I’m embarrassed I have to ask, but how do I get this latest plugin? It’s showing already in the Finnish App Store, but I don’t see a way to just get this latest plugin. Or is it necessary to delete and re-download the Suite? Thus losing presets.
Really stupid question and I’m embarrassed I have to ask, but how do I get this latest plugin? It’s showing already in the Finnish App Store when I look up the Suite, but I don’t see a way to just get this latest plugin. It’s not showing under Updates at least yet. Or is it necessary to delete and re-download the Suite? Thus losing presets.
No, the update should automatically contain the new plugin. Simply update the app, you won't lose anything.
Right, thank you. It’s just not showing up yet under Updates for me, for some reason. Maybe I just need to wait a bit.
EDIT: Signing out and back in to the App Store made the update show up. Thanks again!
You could also refresh the updates tab scrolling down for a moment or two
Ive had this thing on the background while web browsing/doing crosswords for the past hour, occasionally changing the parameters or synth patch. Tell me someone else does the same
Yup, lost many hours ‘testing’ my code but in reality getting lost in endless new Kauldron patches to see what would happen next
Fair. My idea is, though, the sequencer can enable cool stuff in any synth, through pitchbend (or plugin parameter control, eventually).
So, while a technically-better implementation of microtuning in every single synth would be awesome, @brambos could have a big impact on iOS musicking through this kind of functionality, which could be easier to implement.
Part of what made me think of this is slide. Hadn’t thought of it this way at first but it sounds like it’s “simply” using legato mode. So, it does require the synth to support it and it works really well when it does.
So, maybe adding pitchbend-based slide wouldn’t work, “because MIDI”. But maybe it would work better than people say. In my experience, people quickly dismiss MIDI because of its resolution or rate, but pitchbend tends to work well for things like these.
Obviously, my longer-term dream is a full implementation of expressive control through plugin parameters. Would even be better, technically, than MPE (and it’s the way EigenD works, on desktop). But, to work on iOS, it’d require support from more people involved, which is already a big challenge for MPE.
Troublemaker as well. Once @brambos goes MPE in one way or another, he might really spark something.
Come to think of it, though, maybe iOS musicking can leapfrog MPE, so to speak.
Bram already made comments about plugin parameters, in the past. AFAICT, the idea could be that you directly control parameters at a much faster rate and much higher resolution than MIDI, making for much smoother curves on anything. Haven’t really had issues with MIDI’s limitations, in terms of “stepping” and such. But it now sounds to me like part of the attraction for audio-rate modulation and CV on modular might have to do with direct control. While MIDI support has improved a whole lot over the years, AUv3 might also open the door to new forms of control.
Yesterday after setting up a nice relaxive randomness, I was tweaking it for a while then fell asleep...
about a hour later woke up and continued.
Having so much fun lately with my iDevice, feels like we finally got there.
Me too. Really like this one.
yeah, really fantastic stuff!
I'm a little underwhelmed by collider.
I get more fascinating results from cells and particles.
I just think this one could have been much more expanded in it's design and vision as far as the musical output is concerned.
But the whole suite is a stand out app in this current world of app mediocrity
This just a hunch, but I have a suspicion that the real reason a few are “underwhelmed” by Collider is that the interface design is just so damn intuitive and efficient. It’s deceptively simple at first, but the real genius and beauty here, comes from the fact it’s AU and you can have multiple instances.
Try picking one synth you like. Say Zeeon. Have 2 or 3 instances of Zeeon and pick a different complimentary preset for each (or roll your own) Then, add 2 or 3 instances of Collider and point each at a different instances of Zeeon. For each Collider instance, play with the gate length, number of hadrons, grid size, etc.
Maybe add an instance of FilterStation2 to one of them, and a little spacey reverb to another.
Before you know it, just using multi instances of Collider alone can yield amazing compositions. Or, try sending difference Rozeta sequences all at the same synth.
I’m not keen personally on the throwing in everything but the kitchen sink approach. Most often it becomes too dissonant and chaotic with too many spices, but going to the edge and then pulling/sculpting back from there can reveal rich sweet spots.
The amazing thing about the Rozeta suite, are the endless possible combinations and incredibly lush compositions... all wrapped up in a very intuitive set of plugins that offer the perfect amount of control while not getting buried in endless menus.
Brilliant.
That's a very good point! @skiphunt
I should run multiple instances to get more fascinating outcomes.
Job for today
Another good way to go is to point BassLine patterns loaded with a few root notes or a sparse arpeggio at the same synth as particles or collider. This has the effect of “anchoring” the randomness a little.
@wim and @skiphunt are on target and their usage is similar to mine. The value of the Rozeta suite is more than the sum of its parts. Another practical application of Rozeta is being able to control synth parameters via the LFO.
In AUM, BM3, and some other AU host apps, you can control the synth parameters via MIDI too and using Rozeta LFO instances comes in very handy for controlling them. Having the output from the Rozeta suite AU instances linked to a multiple of the host AU tempo is another very useful tool Rozeta provides.
I’m especially fond of using Rozeta LFO to control parameters in the BitWiz app to create complex evolving waveforms. With the wealth of filter and effects apps on iOS you can then bend these often harsh waveforms from BitWiz to suit your needs. The output can range from melodic to noise-like or rhythmic percussive sounds. I hope at some point @j_liljedahl releases an AU BitWiz like app, it’s very low on resources and multiple instances could be used in all sorts of ways.
Brilliant.
Thank you, another function would be the option for BitWiz AU to output MIDI data rather than just an audio signal. This combined with being able to limit note ranges and map to scales would be great.
There is some really great, creative stuff being suggested on here. I love it.
I pointed Bassline and Collider at a sliced rhythm piece in ReSlice yesterday. Gave the effect of a drum track with slight variation, and the occasional fill. Made it sound really natural.
If you fell asleep it don’t seem that you had ”THAT” fun

They just found each other and now they are married, Collider and Bug Dance

This is great, another really useful tool combined with the others
. Still hope that AU midi control of all the suite is planned which will add another layer of depth so you can add lfos to the velocity , number of hadrons etc
very cool. Reminds me of the nova3 generative sequencer
@Paulinko Excellent idea to use BitWiz, going to try that for sure. Another vote for an AUv3 version of it too.
interesting, being able to touch the screen grid to add nodes like Nova with Collider could be a nice additional control feature too
