Good idea. I love all the options in there, but it's intimidating to strike out on your own.
Yeah, that's the main feedback I've been getting— I'm going to shift my focus a bit to tutorials to help alleviate this, especially for the newbies.
Happy little LFOs.
Lol...I was going to say "Happy little sawtooth here".
Oh cool. Love it!
You clarified several things I wasn’t 100% clear on, and exposed function I didn’t know was available. Nice tidy video. Doesn’t get bogged down in minute detail and I liked how you sprinkled descriptive words associated with some of the modules used without assuming I knew what they did. Nicely done.
More please! Looking forward to one done in the same style but focused on the sequencer. Thanks Synthesizer Bob Ross!
@billjobs_in_space
Thanks much!
Thanks for the positive feedback everyone!
This is a fun video series to do because I don't have to put too much preparation into it, and I'm just seeing where the sound takes me at that particular moment. This is my normal workflow for using this synth, so I thought it would be helpful for others to learn by watching as well. I'm just a bit sad because I made a good setup to do videos finally and the first few that I recorded failed to record with iOS screen recording, and I had some good sounds come out of those as well.
(you can find the first one sans video here: ).
I've noticed that the video reviews that people have done completely miss some of the big features, probably because they're not well documented. That's why this video series was born.
There will be more! I submitted a bugfix for the sequencer today (steps lighting up animation wasn't working properly), so I will probably be devoting a few to that as well. Now that I have a good setup I am also planning on making short tutorials for each module as well (as well as a basic overview) as well.
Yes indeedy, a fine NYE's present. As the Madam at the Chicken Ranch is always shouting: Keep em coming....

Episode 2 is up! Happy New Year everyone!
@billjobs_in_space Well done that man. I have resoluted to do a tut a day this year and these two will kick me off.
JG, you have inspired me; I also intend to do a toot a day.
I get a kick out of how you guys have alternate spellings for some words
Learned a lot here. About the app (although it happens at lightning speed to my glacial eyes). About making a patch. And about the way creativity (in music) comes in so many different forms. Good. And, anyway, best title for a tut-video series by some distance.
Off to listen/watch to Part Two.
Awesome, glad to hear it! I think it's long overdue that I gave people an idea of how I personally use synthQ. Enjoy!
I see what you did there...
Busted!
Seriously, I am enjoying the tutorials.
"Synthesizer Bob Ross" spoken through your own vocoder. Noice!
Another good one. Thanks!
Re-visited the sequencer and forgot how it's supposed to work. It's mostly intuitive, and I remember your in-app manual is actually pretty good and to the point. Will have to skim it again to refresh my memory, so that I'm ready for the next groovy Synthesizer Bob Ross installment.
I wanted to do an episode that focused on making acid basslines using the sequencer, but unfortunately there seems to be a few little bugs that have popped up in recent versions that I'll have to correct before doing so. Going to focus on fixing those before putting out the next episode. SBR is a work in progress, but it's been fun so far, and I'm happy about all the positive feedback I'm getting!
For now though, I can point you to the older sequencer tutorial I did — just FYI, in the current app store version there's a problem with the sequencer steps not lighting up, so it may be a bit frustrating to navigate until I get that fixed.
Thanks man!
