Apple will begin donating 50% of their revenue to social causes and dedicate 50% of its development towards creative niche of ios and MacOs.

Other big tech companies will follow suit because they will find making the world a better place to live more rewarding than making money.

I take it that you donate 50% of your earnings to social causes too ? Apple donate millions upon millions to every disaster relief and countless charities. They support gender equality, pay and rights for minority’s including gay and lesbian. They have set the benchmark for green technology that paves the way for other corporations to try and match, and help to steer our planet towards a more sustainable future. They may not always get it right but I’m grateful for their humanitarian efforts. Whilst also making beautiful products.

    What a load of B.S. :D

May I ask why? Or is it normal practise for you to hurl insults

It’s beyond fashionable to only believe and promote the worst of Corporations...so many thanks for this

I'm not at all surprised with @CracklePot so reaction. The corporations pay little taxes, lobby governments and treat workforce as expendable commodity that is mostly hidden far away lands and out of sight.

I don't know where you live but in the UK capitalism is destroying the social fabric with most of public services underfunded (children centres and national health service) while apple and amazon get tax breaks. They really do make disproportionate amounts of untaxed money.
I likely pay proportionally more tax than most giant corporations and live in a place where the only place to go on a rainy day is a shopping mall or a pub to drown my brain. The bit about eco credentials is indeed a lot of crap, and I mean it in a most gentle way. It is the face of the brand they want you to see. Producing vast quantities of disposable devices and eco sustainability do not belong to the same sentence I'm afraid, let alone philosophy.

Sorry @Michael it did turn a bit socio-political. I hope it can stay civil though ;)

  • The OP-Z will finally come out, and I will definitely want one.

    @supadom @CracklePot

Zero carbon footprint is ‘indeed a lot of crap’?
Which other company is doing this ?

A huge infrastructure for mass recycing of their products. Which other corporation has this ?

Lobbying foreign governments to try and secure foreign workers rights, and increasing low pay and safety is treating workers as expendable commodities? Which other company has done this. Samsung? LG? Sony?

Which other company do you know freely supports of their own will, every single disaster relief that happens in today’s changing world from hurricanes to war, with hundreds of millions each year. Is this ‘indeed a lot of crap’ ? They’re a business. They don’t have to do this. But they do. Which other companies do?

Apple has one of the most powerful ceos in the world who chooses to actively support diversity issues in order to try and help social cohesion. He doesn’t need to do this. And is regularly criticised by his own share holders. But he does it.

    Is this crap to?

Apple don’t pay their taxes ? They do. The issue does not lie with Apple. It’s with the EU and the UK government who laid down the legislative tax laws that all corporations trading there follow. If countries like Ireland did sweetheart deals in order to entice companies over, then that’s the country’s fault. Why is the company then targeted as the culprit. If you want corporations to pay more tax use your vote to change political sentiment regarding tax legislation.

Re the uk, capitalism is not destroying the social fabric, the elected governments are. The nhs is underfunded but is also stretched with an ageing population and expanding populous. However, the government are the ones that direct tax expenditure. So be the change you want to see. Vote for a different party if you think they are the cause. How is this all down to a tech company?

People hate on Apple for selling expensive products. They don’t need to buy them. Buy the cheaper lesser specced model. It’s just as good. Instead of chastising a company that has revolutionised the world and the way you make music, and if you have an issue with them, then stand up for what you believe in, and rather than indulging in hypocrisy, choose to not buy their products.

  • Woody from piano shack sort of made some dim prediction the iPad won’t be around in 5 years time check out his comments around 5.30 in this video!

What do you guys think? Open for debate I think.

  • I thought we were gonna refrain from political discourse.. But “corporations don’t pay taxes”? Does anyone read the news? Trump’s new tax plan just reduced corporate tax down to 21%.
Also if “capitalism is destroying the U.K.”... Socialism and communism have far worse track records.. I’ll leave it at that . Happy NY to all.

  • The most strange thing is why we spend so much time to think what was and what will be but forget about what we have right now.
Reminds me of.........gone to create some stuff...... ;)

  • Shut it down folks, right now

  • Yes let's go for the safe option @Telstar5

Actually not bad! This year’s the year (finally). Turns out having a baby digs into one’s productivity somewhat!

  • As usual there is a very easy way if we don´t like what companies do......don´t buy their stuff.

Maybe he is not there in 5 years, who knows. I´m sceptic too but sure there will be still iPads (or what they be called then) in 5 years......or macpads or iPhads or whatever.
But one thing for sure, if the app gots no updates it won´t run on the new iPads in 5 years maybe indeed :p
But maybe there will be no macs and only iPads in 5 years (which makes more sense for Apple but i hope not).

  • edited January 2018

If the app runs on an iPad now, why would an iPad to run it not be available in 5 years, it will probably be $20 on ebay to buy said old iPad, his argument is complete nonsense.

iOS12 will most likely bring some improvements to the AUv3 'preset handling' and make way for shared storage areas for presets and other 'files' and hopefully iOS will finally gain full support for USB mass-storage devices, no more need for 3rd party hacks or jail-breaks to access all files on SD-Cards/External USB Devices using Apples standard CCK & SD-Card reader...

Doesn't seem like that much to ask, given we finally got a Files app. Fingers crossed.

There is no moral for companies which goal is to earn money.
Of course we are not better at all.

A simple but powerful daw will be released that hosts AUV3 and AUV3 midi. Such a daw will be easy to use, affordable, stable and able to draw fx/ panning and volume automations.

An AUV3 mastering app for iPad AND iPhone.

So it will be the year of the daw basically and all our favourite apps will be used within in.

Agree with this...and I think it will be delivered by a Fruit Corporation
