    I was just wondering about this after reading Gordon Reid's classic Synth Secrets series in SOS magazine. The Roland SH101 is one of the synths he programs. I can find Minimoog and ARP and the Korg classics on iOS, but no Roland SH101.

    Over the weekend I was reading a thread somewhere on the internet (I’ve forgotten where it was) where many contributors chimed in saying how much better the sound of the Roland SH-09 was compared to the SH101. It made me feel quite a lot better about still having an SH-09 up in the attic (along with a CSQ-600). I always assumed they were both about the same. I used to have an MC-202 which was probably more like an SH101 in synth terms.

    "Better" can be a very subjective term.
    The SH-09 is sweet too, only that sometimes it's a specific sound that triggers memories, no matter how "bad" it actually sounds. See the TB303 cult :D (Ouch, please stop, I'll shut up :D )
    I've had an SH-101 too and the sound is definitely recognizable.

    Would a clone that sounds like an SH-101, without the UI, be sufficient?

    I've had an SH-101 too and the sound is definitely recognizable.

    I have both 09 and 101.
    The 09 has a clean sound due to the built-in power supply, but the 101 sounds more “real” because of light hum, noise and distortion caused by the external power supply.
    Maybe it’s just these two. Other 09s and 101s probably sound slightly different.

    Love the 101 the most.

    Anything doing along the lines of Sh101 emulators?

    I’m loving the Audiokit 808 btw - amazing for that Goa Trance type groove - lovely with a touch of Bit Maestro and and Glitch Core with a hint of delay...... anyway l take it this was the 101 type app that @analog_matt had in the pipeline? Or is that still to come?

    Thanks - but both of these give me the heebie jeebies just looking at them - I struggle sometimes to make midi connections 😃. I was hoping for something more out of the box.

    I also want a simple SH-101 app that sounds, looks and acts like the real thing.
    No patching/menus/tabs/scrolling etc.

Emulating even one of these components is challenging (e.g. Schmitt-Trigger VCO ) All of them make magic. Even poor power supply contributes to the sound :)

    Since TAL ported UNO LX to iOS, there's hope that they'll port their SH101 emulation Bassline 101 as well.

    This all patchinh you need. Interzone Valley is direct 101 emulation and it's oscillators and filter are really sounding very close to real thing. Layout is straight forward and cleab. You don't need to connect anything more, all basic modules (oscillators, filter, lfo, envelopes) are by default internally commected, so you're just tweaking knobs.

    This connection is on miRack AUv3 version (on iphone)
