What's your acceptable price for app content (samples/patches) IAPs ?
IAP sample/patch patches inside app (any specific, generally any synth/sampler/daw)
I know, it's easy to say $0.99 :-)) But ok, let's be a bit realistic.. hold in mind that apple steals 30% of price .. developer must pay taxes, create serious pack takes a significant time which can be counted in many days - so if we will push devs to set price tag too low, it will affect quality ... So let's try do not thing just like greedy bastards, let's try in long term, if we pay a bit more, maybe in future creator will be motivated to create more interesting packs ..
So my question is - how much you are willing to pay for sample/patch bank IAP ? What's your upper limit ? I know it's hard to say if we are not speciffic what pack contains, what is quality, etc .. but let's assume it's pack which is interesting for you.. where is your limit ? What is average price you are ready to pay ?

I prefer small focused and cheap packs. Even if the cost of each loop/patch/midi file is individually relatively high.
Interesting point of view.. so rather than 1 $10 pack with 100 items you prefer 10 $1 packs each containing 10 items ?
Basically yes. It’s like cherrypicking the individual tracks from an album.
Yes. Risk with sample packs is high in my experience. 10 @ $1 serves to mitigate that risk.
Then again, I happily shell over $12/mo for Netflix because they’ve proven the quality is high and, because of that, my usage is generally high. So... the risk of me throwing $12 in the trash is low. By that I mean to say: If the content quality is high (and relevant to me), I would definitely prefer to buy it all at once. It’s just hard to, generally, discern that potential value with content IAPs.
I said less than 5 because right now I can’t make good use of the platform AND usual memory issues(I would like to get big samplepacks, for which I’m already paying 90$ per year, but since those are some 100s GBs it isn’t really an option).
Despite if it was an unlocking IAP I would have no problem spending a bit more (up to 20$)
yeah that's exactly point here .. in case it is IAP, it is expected it is well tuned so it will work smoothly inside app ... plus again i can be also synth patches, sized in literally few kilobytes max. megabytes, not just samples .. simply content perfectly tuned for app where it is available to buy
I see one problem with "get it all" bundle.. if you buy now such bundle, would you expect that all packs added in future will be automatically yours too ? You know, because you already own "get it all" bundle
I think this will effectively work like demotivation for content creator because sooner or later he will get almost no revenue from new created stuff ...
of sourse some bundles are good .. but "get all" can be tricky ..
Get ‘em all as a subscription like many desktop platform as splice or Noiiz
Ik multimedia and Yonac have both had multiple buy it all packs.
I think it also depends on a few other factors. With iOdysseeyiihiyiii-ii I haven’t bought the extra packs despite very much liking the synth (as I’m very familiar with the old Odyssey in hardware) because it just adds patches that I can make myself – and also gives a new colour scheme, which frankly isn’t worth money. With iWavestation and with iM1, on the other hand, I bought the extra voice packs immediately without even thinking of reasons not to, as they provide some actual extra oscillator wave sources unavailable otherwise, as well as the swathes of extra patches. In other words, the latter cases gave me extra capabilities, the former case doesn’t really (if you discount patches alone which anyone can make themselves if they sat down to it).
Minus points, however, for Korg not letting me see my own patches made outside Gadget from within Gadget.
That is depending on the kind, quality, quantidy of the content.
If it‘s crap and the usual stuff i get free at the next corner i wouldn‘t pay a dollar.
If it‘s high quality, focused stuff i think i really will use often i‘m willing to pay 100 maybe.
In general this can‘t be answered, just if i know exactly for which content.
@tja
Just wait till they release ARP2600 for Gadget he he ..
I don't accept iAPs at all - from a consumer perspective. In theory it works fine. And every problem can be solved.
LOL
My "grr-i-am-so-angry"-rate with iAPs is 50 percent now. This is quite to high. I hate iAPs for good reasons.
Another fan of Netflix here but you can´t really compare that.
That would be more things like the Roland Cloud or East West ComposerCloud where you get access to 10000+ instruments for 25 per months.
I don´t like these at all but for Netflix i would pay even more since i see the value here.
About IAP in iOS the poll shows again that iOS is not ready for high quality content.
one sub-question.. imagine pack with price $5 .. how many samples, or synth patches, should it contain to have size adequate to price ? 40 ? 80 ? 100000 ? :-) What is for you adequate "value" for given price ($5, 10$, ..) ?
Again depends on quality, kind of sounds and size in MB, GB if samples.
I pay rather more for 50 of those good old Alchemy patches rather than 500 which sounds like someone pushed just a randomize button in a Virsyn synth.
There is no size/price formular.
But for a 10 dollar synth which comes with 100 presets at default it might be hard to sell it for even 5 dollar if it doesn‘t has 200 presets or so.
If a synth cost 20-30 and comes with 1000 presets it will also be hard to sell such a pack.
It should have for sure proper demos of single sounds and at least a demo track made with it to show it
