IMPC PRO 2 IMPORT/ORGANIZE SAMPLES
So I spent an hr trying to figure out how to bring my samples into IMPC Pro 2 and the only way was to connect to desktop and manually transfer the samples in iTunes. Did not see an option in Audio Copy to bring my samples in. The problem with this (besides the fact that it's lame) is that I'm not able to select or create a folder for them to go in. Had to copy all the waves and dump them in main folder which is a nightmare to organize. Then you can't organize in folders in the app.
This can't be life on iMPC Pro 2, right!? Wheres the dropbox/icloud/onedrive drag and drop import. I love how BM3 can download and extract zips for importing. I really like some aspects of iMPC Pro 2, but nothing is easy as it should be. It's quick to get a beat going if you are using the stock sounds or their sample packs, but you lose all that when you have to spend hours trying to get your sounds that you've built up over the years into the app.
Am I missing something?

iFunbox
plug iPad into PC /MAC
Move all your files around in the sandbox of Audiocopy
Just use BM3.
Wow, have to use a 3 party program in iFunbox...sad.
STRYFE you hit it on the head! IMPC PRO 2 is terrible for this.
Wish i never got it. Because of this one thing.
This came up on the iMPC Pro 2 thread: IMPC Pro 2, (or AudioCopy) need to be opened to The Files app. Lobby Retronyms, @Retronyms here or via email. They’re pretty motivated to tune the thing up further, but more requests will bring changes sooner.
For my purposes (moving many gigs of .wav at once into an app) I’ve used iMazing to load BM3, SunVox, Cubasis, Auria, really every host, rather than rely on inter app stuff. When it’s a sample at a time, ok, interapp methods.
As far as I know Files.app support is in the pipeline.
In practice it would just give us access to the iMPC Pro 2's 'iTunes' folder which is a bit of a mess imho with empty category folders etc. iTunes by default can not browse folders so only the top level is seen in iTunes while if it was 'Files.app enabled' it would be possible to browse deeper on the iOS device...
Has any one just used unbox to add files to "pro" folders in Audiocopy......
That works quite well but I prefer to keep my files in AudioShare or other places where they can be easily accessed.
iFunBox can also be used to add samples to iMPC Pro 2 without using AudioCopy but I do wish it had 'open in...' support for more 'direct' transfer of files.
Retronyms want you to buy Loopmasters and Akai samples. They don't want you to import your own stuff unless you do it through AudioCopy where they probably are collecting some kind of personal information to sell to market researchers and other nefarious characters I suspect.
@LucidMusicInc, as @Samu said files.app support is something we are testing thoroughly. We are not against users importing their own files. -Niki (:
I don' think so really.
They are just using their own for primary purposes.
Makes sense, no?
Frankly, the Akai packs are the best things available in my opinion.
The quality is better than all others and they allow export import of all apps.
Unlike BM3 and BeatHawk where you ONLY can really only use the sounds in those apps without a whole external process.
So, I don't think it is anything but providing an option that makes sense for their app line ups?
They don't make you use the amazing Akai packs "only in iMPC"
Quite the contrary , easy export import or air drop.
I think Retronyms rock and so do their apps.
That is my opinion but I am firm and confident in the reasoning.
I am picky as well but to me the pros are way better than the cons.
If IMPC pro comes to iPhone I would be happiest guy ever.
iMPC Pro apps are the easiest for me to quickly compose and have fun doing it.
Unlike many others.
Beat Hawk is amazing don't get me wrong, but I am trying to keep it relevant to the thread.
@Retronyms did you ever get files.app support working? I just got impc pro 2 for iPhone.
Also what are the limitations of the iPhone vs the iPad version?
Bringing this thread back to life! Wondering if anyone knows how I can grab my iMPC samples and access them on my Macbook? Talking about samples purchased through the iMPC store on my iPad. (Akai/Retronyms/Audiocopy - whatever the hell you'd call them).
When I bought these packs, I thought these files would just behave as normal. Didn't realize they'd be locked down to what appears to be a bunch of restrictions. I actually thought I'd just be able to hop on that same store on my Mac and download them again (worst case). But I've not found a good way to get them on the Mac nor am I finding much at all online. I see a lot of people trying to get their own samples over to iMPC2 but I'm trying to go the other way.
I'm hoping that I'm not finding answers because it's such an obvious and easy solution - lol!
So far, the only way I can see is to transfer them 1 by 1 to either audio copy or dropbox and then transfer them from there. But as far as I can tell, no way to even grab sub folders, it's literally 1 sample at a time. I think I own around 10 of these packs, so that might take a while!
Isn't there some sort of way to go through iTunes or something? Admittedly, I don't really ever connect my iPad to my Mac so I'm not familiar with that really that these days.
Any suggestions appreciated! Just want my expensive-ass samples on my own computer! Seems like it should be easy!
iMPC Pro 2 can be found in the “On My iPad” folder in the Files app. The packs you’ve bought are in: iMPC Pro 2/MPC Pro/Pasted Audio Bank
You can move the entire file of all the banks onto your laptop with a third party app installed on your Mac like iMazing.
Awesome! Thanks for this. I don’t know why I struggle with this folder system on iPad. I appreciate the feedback, sounds simpler than I expected for sure.
No worries, I think the Files app functionality for iMPC Pro 2 is relatively new...
