@Giant_Peach I don’t know about you, but I think homeboy is pretty great at his craft. With his creations as evidence, I would say “not bullshit”.

I’m not doubting he’s great at his craft. I like everything I’ve heard so far. His musicianship I am not calling bullshit at all, but the pious and condescending lecture of righteousness and the “correct attitude to have so the muse of creativity shines down upon you like it does for me” tone of the smug advice.

He’s not hearing the legitimate criticism the OP had, but wants to just take the opportunity to preach, when he has no idea about the workflow or reality of the original poster.

If he was really interested in helping, he wouldn’t say “well I’ve made an album over here and it’s all great and this is the attitude you need to take to get stuff done.” He would share workflow tips and tricks and share ideas about what allowed him to overcome iOS limitations and make things work for him.” Nebulous hippie like “focus” and “intent” doesn’t cut it, because the original poster might surely have had both those virtues, perhaps even more so than @echoopera.

Different folks with different workflows have vastly different experiences on iOS. Perhaps @echoopera is more of a performer and the original poster is more of a programmer. This makes a huge difference for how iOS works out for you.

I dunno. I just have a simple attitude which i strive to remind myself of daily...but boy it isn’t easy, but then again things of worth seldom are...so, sorry if anything came off as rude or dismissive...that was not my intent.

I’m just like everyone here who tries to create beauty and meaning from what they compose in whatever medium they choose to express themselves in. Letting the inner spirit out is our burden we carry with us. It ebbs and flows and if we don’t course correct and attune to it we get lost in the noise of life

Anyhoo, enough rambling. Time for a personal quote which i strive to uphold.

    Peace and love everyone.

“Do what you know to be truth and let the truth be your guide...and love your brothers and sisters with all your heart so that your light within never dims and can be a beacon in the darkness...”

All this talk about what others should do, how they should speak, how they need to tell us there production secrets. Maybe you could try to be more positive? Maybe?

    Peace. B)

  • positivity is for posers. i say only the truth.

The opposite for me. Totally blown away by the apps I have picked up in the past year.

Quantum - I can’t get over what an incredible sequencer this is.
Syntronik - thought I would regret getting this one but I just love the layered sounds and FX.
Neo-Soul Keys - I can’t believe I have these sounds on my iPad.
PPG Infinite - I think this might actually be the best sounding synth on iOS.
Yes, Zeeon too. What a synth.
    iMono/Poly - lovely sounds.
When did DrumPerfect Pro come out? I only got it in 2017 and it is the business.
Groovebox - have loved the flow of patterns and kits that get released.
    Layr - on the iPad!
MV08 - in AU too. Boom!
The BM3 sampler and pads (because I haven’t got my head around the BM3 arranger yet).
Xequence (because I haven’t got my head around the BM3 arranger yet...).
    The Rozeta suite. Jam heaven.
All of the crazy FX by Audio Damage and DDMF, etc.
And it’s a year old now but getting Troublemaker still makes me grin ear to ear. On my iPad!

So I would say I have frustrations rather than disappointments. Little bugs, Link not quite running right, interoperability, not being able to pick up a session from where I left off. That sort of thing.

This past year has been an absolute treat. I will qualify all this by saying it was my first year playing with these toys. And maybe I am easily pleased...

Ya. Model D and FM Player were huge gets for me. And iMono/Poly to a lesser degree.

  • currently having some insta-regret purchasing Troublemaker. It's great as a standalone but as an Auv3 it's as basic as a calculator.. bought it to pump acid baselines into BM3..
