CCK3 don’t charge iPhone anymore. Anybody else?
Hello,
I use cck3 with my iPhone 7 Plus with ikmultimedia irig Pro i/o. It has worked perfectly during many months, providing power for both iPhone and irig with a 10000 mah Anker powerpack. Since one month however, I’ve noticed at first that powerpack don’t discharge as fast as before, and finally find that iPhone don’t charge anymore. Before that issue, iPhone was charging even with 80% cpu AUM projects and microphone recording. Now, even with nothing running and fresh reboot, iPhone lost battery like if there was no charger. IRig has no internal batteries in that setup, and works properly. There is the lightning logo on iPhone so it seems that everything is well detected. Powerpack is from october so it’s in well condition. I’ve tried with different wires and wall socket, this changes nothing. I haven’t got the impression cck3 has hardware issue, I’ve bought it in july, so I think it’s perhaps an iOS11 update which involves that bad behavior.
Anybody has noticed that kind of issue recently?
Comments
Fluff in the lightning port stopped mine from charging. Use a pin to get it out.
No. Mine works perfectly and it’s abused heavily every weekend (live musician). I bought it as soon as it was announced. July 2016 I think. With iPad Pro 12.9 (much more battery to charge). I’m pretty sure it’s not iOS 11.
Double post
Thanks to both of you for answers.
I used a toothpick and removed some fluff from lightning port. Didn’t thinked about that, but my iPhone started to charge again with no apps loaded. It was not yet correct under load, so I’ve a done a iOS settings full reset. Now, under AUM project with several AU and Loopy with 50% cpu usage, battery gains 1% per 5 mn, which more or less like it was before my issue. So it seems fixed, even if I noticed that my wife’s iPhone 7 charges quicker, but mine is a 7 Plus.
That's one of the issues with Lightning that I never had with the previous 30-pin connectors. It can be especially annoying when doing live music with external gear connected. It also seems like the original Apple cables have a more limited lifetime.
Always be careful and gentle with the toothpick to avoid bending the tiny contacts.
Edit
Yes, intermimittantly with iPhone 6s
Did you check to see whether you were eligible for a free battery replacement?
Some news on my issue with CCK3. I think mine is faulty, it charges only on one side of its reversible lightning plug: with logos on tops it charges, but not after 180° reversing and sometimes accessory is even not recognised. True on two iPhone 7 and 7 plus. This is why it worked or not depending on how it was plugged, but who takes attention on how he plugs lithning?? Today I was very angry because I had to stop my sax recording, no more juice because of this piece of s.... I suppose its time to go to Apple Store, as it's still under warranty after 6 months usage.
My iPhone has this problem too, tested my friends iPhones and my iPad and all of them charge no matter which way they are plugged, just my iPhone is affected. Cleaned out the port etc but the problem remains
Ok my CCK3 was faulty. It was charging only on one side of its Lightning plug on 4 iPhones (3 iOs11 + 1 iOS10) and it has been confirmed in the Apple Store. Ive get a replacement as it was still under warranty. The new CCK3 works perfectly on both sides. Nice!!! It was a bit hard to troubleshout, and took me some time just to think about a possible issue with Lightning sides. Two weeks later and the one year warranty was ended!!! Glad to have a new one, its a costly adapter and I use it everyday.
