Sampletoy works on iOS 11 and only $1.00 now

I’m sure most here already know about this brilliant little app, just thought I’d bring it up since I noticed some reviews on the App store saying it didn’t work with latest iOS — well I just tried it on my iPad Pro running iOS 11.2.1 and it works like a champ. Can’t believe I’m just now discovering it.

  • P.s. That’s not my video , just thought he did a good job covering the features. Jordan Ruddess has a short demo video on it as well, from years ago.

  • Shame, seems to crash every time I press share.

  • I used to love this, will reinstall when I've finished updating the iOS.

  • That toilet sample sounds like crap.

  • Brilliant app.

  • But no way to get the sounds out via AB or IAA?

  • One if the first sampling apps I've been using. Thanks for the tipp!

  • Crashing on share for me as well

  • Worked for me - recorded ‘performance’ (iPhone) and opened in Audioshare.

No, but you record a performance you can press share and then save the recording in the files app.
Have not had a crash yet while using the share feature. I'm on 11.2.2

  • Lol first update since launch, 7 years ago! This looks too awesome to pass up for only $1. Thanks for the tip @AnimalHeadSpirit . B)

Seems to be updated a day ago to version 1.2 with 64 bit support & vector based UI. If someone knows the dev this app will become extreme interesting with audioshare, ableton link and AB support and usable as IAA

  • That's awesome that's they've updated it. From their website:

Sampletoy requires audio input, so works only with the iPhone (built-in mic or headset mic) and iPod Touch 2G (headset mic)

    iPod Touch 2G!

Looks like there's also a free mac version. http://www.mazbox.com/apps/sampletoy/ Wonder what ever happened to Thump? http://www.mazbox.com/apps/thump/ I don't remember it.

  • Nice to have it working again, though it’s deleted the Monzo Jnr sample is left on there from years ago.

  • Hate to be the bugger always wanting something, but what does this little chap do differently/extra (or does it do stuff just much easier/quicker?)

Nothing at all really, it’s just a silly, fun thing. One of the first apps I bought.

Just now got the notice for another update — this one fixes the bug with sharing. Enjoy :)

  • An oldie revived. Cool! I get unusual high cpu usage when selecting stepped mode in the scale section. Sort of makes the ipad hang right there. Ipad air 1 ios 10. Not problem when using this on the iphone 5s ios 11.

  • yup, great on iphone5s.

Thump was pretty good in its day. I opened it up not too long ago (iOS 10) and it sort of worked. :D

  • Just updated sampletoy, new features:

    • AudioBus3 output
    • Import any audio file to Sampletoy from Files AudioShare, Voice memos, DropBox etc
    • Open some non-audio files and hear what they sound like
    • Bluetooth / Airplay support
    • Performance improvements

Cool, I've had this app for years.

I'm on 12.1.1 and it's working fine - knocking out some serious iPad heat though after only a few minutes play.

I used to muck about with it on the phone before Samplr and all the other stuff arrived.

Works well with AUM, and you can play it as an instrument. What would make it really useful for me is a 'hold' option, so I could keep a loop going.

It's pretty fun, deff enjoying just recording random sounds and seeing what happens! I may try to incorporate some sounds into a jam but if not it's still fun to just mess with! I hope samplr lasts forever, I love that thing

Yeah it's a cool thing - certainly years ago when it appeared and we didn't have all the other sampler apps we have now.

    I'm sure it had a hold before... @elf_audio ?

  • Today I’ve bought a lot of old apps but no o e worked as I expected…I read that sampletoy has audiobus 3 output support but I can not find it in the output apps list. Does it work for you?
