Recording midi
How do I record midi?i would like to use one of my synths and Auria using audiobus but how do I record midi? I thought I was doing that but seems something went wrong
Comments
Just a guess...but did you arm the track for recording?
I opened audiobus and Auria, along with korg imini and when I launch I mini via audiobus in Auria a track called "imini" is created and I hit record in Auria but from the temporary icons that audiobus creates on the right side of Auria and when I hit record it just records it as audio so I'm not sure how to record as midi
Are you using the midi part of Audiobus, or the audio part?
you need to host your synth in a midi track, not an audio track
You don't need Audiobus for this. Create a MIDI track and set iMini as the instrument, arm the track and record.
I thought I needed audiobus to open imini in Auria, am I doing this all wrong? I'm confusd
I’m sure you don’t need Audiobus for recording midi in Auria. I would suggest to read the manual and find the answers on all your questions
I have... been m just very confused, I thought fro watching it outube videos the purpose of audiobus was to open your synth into your daw....I'm not sure without audiobus how to open my synth....I'm just having trouble understanding how to record my synth as midi. It recorded as audio....I don't know I can tell you guys are irritated because I don't nderstand, maybe making this post asking for help. Was a mistake
You have auria or auria pro? Standard auria doesn’t support internal midi sequencing nor recording.
@richardyot and @mschenkel.it have what said what you need. You either don’t have Auria Pro, or you are way over complicating this.
If the question is too basic, then just ignore it. You don’t need to make people feel dumb for asking basic level questions.
No you don't need AudioBus for this. This video might help:
@jdolecek70
And with audiobus, it's like this: there are audio and midi windows (plus the mixer). There are input, effect and output slots.
If you want to play iMini, you either play notes on the in-app keyboard, or by external keyboard. You would select your kb controller on the ab midi page, by tapping (+) on the left side for input, and select iMini as output in that lane.
If you take a look on ab audio page, the icon will be showing up there as input source as well, and you could add an effect app in the middle, and the destination to send the audio to (so you'd select Auria for output).
Now, if you like to record midi, there's no midi out functionality in iMini; you can only record the notes from the external keyboard or any app that can do midi out (i.e. those apps that show up as input sources/midi senders in ab midi window).
Therefore, and because Auria does not show up in the midi output/destination/receiver position/list, you have to set the note input in Auria Pro's midi track manually.
In case you want to play and record notes without external gear, you select the midi input from another app in the midi track's input port settings, or take advantage of the in-app on-board 'virtual' keyboard in Auria, keeping in mind to set midi output port to iMini selected on that track as 'instrument' for playback of recorded notes.
cheers :]
Thanks for posting this vid @richardyot. I learn and retain best from a tutorial vid approach.

Thanks for having my back, yea that dude was rude.....lot of times when people are knowledgeable they think they are too good to help people starting out.....anyway thanks for the video, it has hot me headed in the right direction but it does have me thinking see now I guess the purpose of audiobus has me confused, I have looked around but can't find a clear cut answer, in simple terms what does audiobus ? Because what I thought it did was not what it really does, then there is aum, does it just allow you to play multiple instruments at the same time? I adminit I do feel dumb because grasping all of this is confusing for me. I hear how everyone says how great aum is but I still don't get it, it's like with audiobus let's you add effects in realtime but wouldn't you want to do that in mixdown?
