thank you for the code![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Awesome app! I left a good review. I'll cross my fingers for more presets, but what you gave us is great to start with, cranking knobs for more awesome sounds! I hope the intro price makes you rich, we need more unique original apps like yours! Love Beat machine too!
Thanks for the code! I did some testing now. I like the overall layout and I find it tracking very well with the settings tweaked a little. The pitch bending works very well too. A couple of things I would think would be nice to add are:
I don't know how much more work that would be but I think it would make your great app even better.
Here is a video..this has its own thread but I thought I may as well post it here too..

A demo of new mono guitar synth app JamSynth. Thanks very much for the code![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Great bass synth sound, tracks really well. Also great on tracking bending notes but a very slight lag noticeable at times (even allowing for my clumsy phrasing). Output level seems a little low into Cubasis even with JamSynth Compressor on. Nice clean easy to use interface.
Hmm, I don't seem to be able to rate or write a review for this in the app store. It says I need to have downloaded it or purchased it. Is it because I got it using a redeem code? Seems odd!
Yeah you can't review it if you got a promo code. It's ok though, the app is unique enough to cause a lot of people to write reviews which is usually rare.
Good job @dreamless! I wrote a couple of points a few posts back that I think I should explain better:
-When running this live in audiobus along with jamup it would be very helpful to toggle the synth On/off with a pedal. Could be called mute.
-And for features of the synth it would be nice to have things like portamento, ADSR, and above all midi mappable controls at least for filter cutoff and lfo rate. I could then use my epression pedal or my breath controller to modulate stuff.
-A nice little reverb would be great as well. I tried to get the delay to function as a reverb but failed...
-I love to be able to lay down pad sounds under guitar chords and soloing. For that I will have to use the other pitch to midi apps with sunrizer and the likes. Unless you find a way to get polyphony implemented and long release and attack times for the synth.
Just in case my previous review sounded a little negative, I re-did the tune just using JamSynth for the bass (and Amplitube for lead guitar) and it does a great job sounding like a real bass guitar (fretless, maybe?).
code please
@dreamless, fantastic tracking, well done!
But the MIDI output needs some definite tweaking.... first of all you need to send NoteOff messages for each NoteOn you send! Otherwise almost all existing synths/etc in their standard polyphonic modes will not play correctly. A purely monosynth might respond OK, but that is a special case. Your current implementation is also useful if you wanted to hold an arpeggiated chord, but if you are trying to play a melodic lead line, you need the NoteOffs. So perhaps make your current approach an option?
The other thing is that instead of your current control "Pitch Bend Sensitivity", make that control explicitly the maximum pitch bend range ( 2 ->12 or even up to 24 ), because it is very important that it be set exactly on both ends to ensure correct pitches. Furthermore, instead of sending NoteOn messages when sliding through each semitone, only send another NoteOn when the bend range would exceed the maximum value (only when pitch bend mode is enabled, of course).
It would also be great if your "Midi" output mode didn't broadcast to all. Perhaps you could add a UI to choose where to send your Midi output in the future.
Again, the tracking is definitely one of the most responsive out there!
Yes, tracking great, MIDI-out bad.
I really like it and use it a lot, but useless right now for MIDI.
I'd like a code, please!
Thanks a lot for the code! I'll test it out later today. I'm curious how it compares to using MIDI Guitar to control a synth.
Maybe I'm missing something, but is there a way to turn off the dry signal guitar coming through and only hear the effected synth tone? Right now I'm getting both and only want the effected sound.
Jam Synth doesn't process the dry signal. It uses it for tracking but doesn't output it. I thought it was better this way because the raw sound from pickups is pretty bland and you can just stack it with other guitar apps on the AB input. If you hear it then it's from another app or your interface.
The midi can be improved but will never be perfect. I did program it to send note offs at first but it sounded choppy even though the previous note was held until a new note was played. It just sounded much better with note ons and mono mode. I can add note offs as another button to turn on and off. I use it with Thor and it just sounded better without them. I could also extend the bend range instead of having a new note on every semitone, but this should also be a toggle because a lot of synths only restart their attack phase when a new note is played. When you play notes that are close together you'll just get the decay of the previous note bent up (Thor did this to me).
@dreamless, did you try sending the next NoteOn immediately followed by the NoteOff of the previous note (overlapping)? A synth in mono mode would effectively ignore the NoteOff in that case, but it would still be compatible with a synth in poly mode.
I wasn't suggesting that you should not send NoteOns when appropriate while using pitch bends, or when you sense there should be a new attack. I was really talking about the case of a continuous slide (from a fretless instrument, or voice, etc) where you wouldn't want a new attack phase anyway. That said, sensing whether a new attack has been made is probably pretty tough to do accurately in some cases with continuous input. I like to stress-test these kinds of features with fretless bass![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Thanks dreamless, I will try some more troubleshooting with my interface. Amazing app by the way, I love it and can't wait to apply it to my recordings!
Here's a recording I did with a DIY electric Diddley bow, a Yamaha Audiogram 6, Jam Synth, AmpliTube, AUFX:Space, and Audiobus.
I too have been having difficulties with the midi notes continuing to stay on while trying to drive other synths.
Yes, midi notes continue to stay on constantly...
Apart from that, the tracking is the best out there
@dreamless cool app! i use it with mi cello with interesting results.
it's necessary a way to mute it using midi, and also the "on/off" button in the floating audiobus window, so you can bypass it from other app when you want.
so you can come back to reality when it's too much xD
also it would be very nice to allow to choose what channel to process (like jamup does) L or R for the stereo inputs.
and not only octave transposition, but also in semitones!
come on guys! it's only 1$! ...no comment
good job.
@dreamless this really really is fun. I've only had limited chances to use it over the last few days since it's easier for me to put on some headphones, and play a synth app with an on-screen keyboard rather than plugging in my guitar to my mini. Seriously wish I could write a review for you. As I imagine Doug saying this is great fun.
I'm going to add an on screen keyboard and midi in so it can be played like any other mono synth. It's just waaaaay cooler with a guitar![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Yep, I agree, likely best with the expression from a guitar! I like it as such anyway!
Gee , I have 1Euro and 1 cent left on my App-account , would I love to get a code for this software :-P .
@dreamless. Bought and loved it. I've only played bass through it so far, but can't wait to send guitar and vocals as well. Nicely done!
Why, so you can talk shit about it later? Cough up the (tiny amount of) cash.
Lol
Sorry , but I rather talk shit about products that ARE realy shit ;-) .
v1.1 just went live, even though Apple is on holiday and not approving new apps. Have no idea why. There are cool new in app purchases to be had... but they are apparently not approved and can't be purchased even though you can see them and test them. My dev account is locked until the 28th when they come back so I can't even log in to see what the problem is. Hope I don't get negative reviews for this apple! You can test the new FX by loading up some of the new presets. If you don't have the new presets then you might have to uninstall and reinstall the app to get them. Back up any custom presets you made if you have to do this.
The intelligent harmonizer is pretty fancy as far as harmonizers go because it sounds much better than fixed intervals. You can choose any major / minor key and any musical mode for different feelings. You just need to tell it what key you're playing in. Guitar pedals that do this are pretty expensive!
The rotary vibe is a stereo modulation effect kinda like the 3D chorus... but much more pronounced and spacey. It is more CPU intensive than the other effects because it has 12 stages of phase modulation for both left and right channels and an auto panner for faux leslie sounds. Needs CPU cycles for: thickness, lushness, warmness, etc.
MIDI output has been improved a great deal based on suggestions from you guys and now it works great. String bends work correctly and it sends noteoffs so there are no stuck notes. I recommend Sunrizer because it always works and sounds great. I played Sunrizer with Jam Synth for quite some time with excellent results. Not quite as expressive as the internal tracking but still pretty guitar-y because of the pitch bending ability.
