    1. My voice is just one of many.
    2. I don’t hate Auxy, I just dislike their business model.
    3. I have never claimed to speak for anyone else
    4. If you actually have a point to make then please do so.

Attacking me when caught out, just makes you sound like an immature fan-boy.

  • LOL WOW can't believe those devs are talking to users like that. Auxy people if you're reading this, KORG has fleeced me of hundreds of dollars over the years and I'd happily pay them more. I'm a lifetime loyal customer. Au> @brambos said:

But at the same time, the current pricing model is a dead end. That much is clear. Whether consumers are willing to go the subscription route or not is pretty much a moot point when there are no more serious developers to provide the apps in the first place. A healthy market goes both ways.

I think rather than trying to squeeze more money out of the existing customer base via subscriptions, many developers would benefit by concentrating a bit more on the selling and marketing side of their products. Most seem happy to leave it up to Apple to promote their products, then complain when they don't, and leave it to third parties such as the Soundtestroom to show off their apps via social media. 'App finished, start a thread on a couple of forums, job done, where's my money?'

Unfortunately it's not how you expect it works. I've been experimenting for almost two years with pretty much every existing marketing strategy now, including different forms of paid advertising on social media, profile-targeted facebook ads, direct interactions with forums, etc. etc. etc. And I've been carefully monitoring the effectiveness of these strategies for my particular products in my target markets. This iOS market is completely counterintuitive. I'll let you in on a select few of my findings.

    • Being featured by Apple did not lead to a sales increase for me. Lots of eyeballs (many millions of them in some cases, especially when listed on the front-page) but maybe a dozen sales in that period. That's a ridiculously low conversion rate. I expect winning Apple's "Best App Design" award (I think Auxy won it twice) may have a positive effect, but there's an almost 0% chance of winning that.
    • Winning a prestigious award and being prominently featured in a major printed magazine: not a blip on the radar in the sales dashboard
    • Being mentioned by a trusted poster on an iPad-related facebook group with a video: an immediate spike in sales

I could go on, but the main takeaway is: my sales are pretty much driven by the community. Diverting more resources and time to shotgun marketing is not the solution - at least not for me. There is very little untapped potential outside of the community that can be directly tapped into without some other catalyst. B)

Completely off track here but are there any brambos samplers in the works?

Fourth thought: Beatmaker 3 / Intua has done the quite opposite: To get a broader user basis the made their app free for some days.

If you ask me, this is a very risky move. But maybe they can achieve (after the 3 free days) in the long run, that mouth propaganda etc. will result in even better sales.

Intua doesn't know what they awakened there is a left wing activist group that claims to have downloaded more than 500 copies on different accounts that will be used to swamp update with negative feedback.

Why would "left wing activists" be so petulantly outraged by someone giving away a consumer good? That is ridiculously contradictory to underlying ideology.
Sorry, but I am calling BULLSHIT on that.

You probably forget something. Left wing activist (like all radical activists) happen to act quite often irrational. In case you missed the argument. The software was especially meant for free for PROs so they could become acquainted. So the little musician financed the PROs that should have it for free during the NAMM.

    Oh. Of course.
Was it the Hold Your Breath Until You Turn Blue Brigade?
    The Tantrumthrowers?
Or was it the Little Whining Bitchbaby Liberation Army?
Your preposterous claim smears both the the Left and a very genorous developer.
Sorry, but I'm not buying it. You're going to have to try better than that.

  • Whatever your stance, the developers have been nothing but consistently kind and very forthcoming with information and explanations on the official Auxy forum. They don’t post here, but don’t think for a second they don’t actively and frequently engage with their users in a friendly manner

It would be hilarious if it were not so transparent and pathetic.

This needs more visibility. Sad some people here are disparaging others because they don't agree with their business decisions.

  • Ah, this discussion is deteriorating from robust debate to fan-boys versus the adults. Time to go, I think.

Thanks to all those for and agin, who contributed.

  • Auxy Dev wrote "... your packs will of course be available regardless of whatever you subscribe or not ".

So, if I bought all packs and do not want subscribe and will update auxy to the newest version 5.0.0:

    1) what about standard sounds - are they stay or will disapear? (then I will have access to bought packs sounds only?)

    2) what about drum sets - are they stay or will disapear? (and I will have access to 1 drum kit with semi-functional 16 drum samples only?)

    3) how to protect Auxy app to do not loose standard sounds and drum sets?
I can do not update app, but what when I will update it? or buy new phone and have to install from appstore the newest version? Is the backup in itunes 4.1.3 version the only way to restore functional Auxy?

    Thanks in advance and regards.

  • Your purchased packs you will still be able to access, you just need to redo load them sound by sound. One at a time.

Drums are different, looks like about half of the stock kits are still there, you need to recreate the other ones by downloading all the sounds again. One at a time. There’s a LOT less control over the overall sound of the kits now though, I think they only have 3 controls now. Instead you need to tweak each of the individual sounds in a kits.

  • Tarekith: thanks a lot for the answer, best regards!
